Let's remind ourselves that David Diaz is nothing special.

I was wrong, I'll eat my crow. Pac looked on the decline the last few years, but this was a huge bounce back win, he looked fast and quick at this weight.. very comfortable.

P4P #1 by far. Great win, no matter what you say about Diaz, it was the way he did it.

Yes, he was alive, as are most thrown into the boxing ring. Now, what else did he bring to the table?

Well, I've expected exactly something like this. Very impressive win vs. a hand-picked opponent luckily to have a title. But Pad didn't let me down, and that's because he was damn good. Don't get overexcited, this was one bad mismatch vs. the worst elite LW, but if an elite LW gets beat like this, no matter of the level, it's pretty damn good sign for Manny!

    Nice job!

I actually agree with the JMM ranking.

The heavy majority of viewers and reasonable boxing judges gave the fight to Marquez 114-113 or 115-112, hell each Ring magazine staff member at ringside gave the fight to Marquez 115-112 or 114-113, and yet he's being tossed aside while Ring ranks Manny #1? Please. Merchant had the fight even after 11 and gave the 12th to Marquez, yet after the fight did a complete 180 and gushed over Pac.

The criticism for Diaz's status as a title-holder is entirely legitimate. This was a great performance tonight by Pac, albeit vs fought a bum with a title he'd never earned in the ring. He was absolutely DREADFUL tonight, and did absolutely nothing to make himself look like a legitimate threat.

JMM 2, Pac 0. I have yet to meet ONE credible boxing analyst who doesn't have it 1-0-1 or 2-0 Marquez. I think JMM's age will catch up to him soon and a third fight with Pac would see him lose on volume and stamina, however. Casamayor is a terrific opponent at this stage.

BTW Im more keen on Pac after tonight while before I never really liked him, he did his job impressively, and I rank him higher in rankings and on a personal level.

But that doesn't change the fact that Diaz is a bum, and his last opponent beat him.

Good post. Diaz isn't much, Pac did what he was supposed to do. Lets leave it there. Good work with an impressive performance, cementing his p4p no.1 spot. Doesn't mean he is suddenly 10x better than before though.

I thought Diaz would make the fight closer.

I thought it would go 12 rounds.

    I thought wrong.

    I'm happy though.

    vcash windfall. :yep

actually, the speed, the volume punching, the sharp combos were there unlike in the jmm rematch. the diff was pac didn't have to starve himself and be weight-drained to make weight. that was the key in this fight. pac has his speed, stamina and sharpness back. pac is a legit 135-lber now. he destroyed diaz who was a big lightweight whose natural weight was 140.
