Should Floyd fight him to prove his legacy?

Being that I don't live in Fantasy Land, I can't answer this question. There's no way in hell Gomez wins both of those fights.

Yeah, because Gomez would be the number 2 welterweight behind Floyd, would hold 2 belts, and would bring decent money with a big underdog story. Plus Floyd would beat him with ease.

No way he'd need to fight him to PROVE his legacy... I'm sure if Cotto gets EXPOSED by a fighter the level of Gomez, as too does Margarito or Cintron again, then Floyd's legacy is as set in stone as it possibly could be (barring maybe moving up and fighting 154 pounders, but come on, he don't NEED to).

But yeah, Cotto will literally eat him. One of the biggest matches I've seen in a while. I wish Cotto wasn't all "I fight whoever my management tells me to"... Have some PERSONAL charisma, please.

That's the thing, we all know Floyd would beat him easy, but let's say he pulled off two huge upsets. Should Floyd fight him? We know Floyd would easily win, but Gomez just had two huge upsets.

Floyd should fight Gomez if by some chance he beats Cotto and Margarito/Cintron because he'd be considered the 2nd best welterweight and would hold 2 belts. Floyd could gather 3 of the 4 belts if this happens.

Alfonso Gomez is obviously the best fighter of the world after having beaten Peter Manfredo Jr and 99 year old Arturo Gatti so i already consider him the champ.

It's not going to happen, but if it did PBF would destroy Gomez.

No....why? Becaue Baldomir pulled 2 big upsets and won the Lineal title in the process. Mayweather gets very little credit for defeating him, despite Baldomir not losing in 8+ years and pulling off those upsets.

Gomez would be pulling 2 big upsets, and getting 2 belts in the process. Baldomir pulled 2 upsets and won the Lineal title and rightfully all 3 belts. Can't see Mayweather getting any more credit here than there.

If Gomez beats both - then Yes.

I would be no different from when Floyd fought Baldomir.

And if he does't fight Gomez - people will start saying that he's ducking him.

Do you know how hugh Gomez name would be if he beat Cotto alone - but then if he turns around an beats Cintron or Margarito - there's no way Floyd could avoid him.

I think if Gomez wins against cotto and cintron margo winner, he shouldn't have been on contender.

    Of course....

But Baldomir shouldn't be dismissed as a good win, and he is, by nearly everyone. If Gomez pulled 2 big upsets, he would be dismissed as well after Mayweather beat him based on his aforementioned skill level. The upsets won't matter.
