Let's say Hypothetically that De La Hoya had defeated Hopkins

would the win/historical aspect have been slightly tarnished since oscar demanded a stipulated catchweight below the middleweight limit?

I dont remember there being a stiuplated catchweight. Oscar looked like a tall pillsbury dough boy at the full 160 and came in around 155 while Hopkins was saying he got down to 156 so he was prepared to chase DLH around if needed.

    The contract weight was 158.

It would have been tarnished somewhat, but not to any significant degree. A win over Hopkins would have been historic.

A simple "yes it would have been tarnished because of the weight stipulations" or "no the weight stipulation means nothing" would've been fine.

Since the Golden Fishnet lost anyway, to a bigger man, should Culture Club have performed "Karma Chameleon" since Oscar beat so many smaller guys in his career?

Not really, the fight was still at middleweight below the limit weight of 160 lbs. And even then Hopkins was 156 lbs at the weight in.

If DLH would have gotten the decision he would have still had become the middleweight champion.
