I am not saying the fight should not take place. If they agree to a catchweight, great. Now we get to see a fight where we may not have been able to otherwise.

For the purposes of this thread, if they fight at a catchweight, it's up to their negotiations whether or not the belt is included.

My previous thread was just pointing out that there is a difference between Cotto coming in at 146 when the limit is 147; and changing the limit from 147 to 145.

I am competely fine with them fighting at a catchweight. The question is whether or not the belt should be on the line.

Technically there is no champ at WW currently, Mosley is #1 contender, Cotto is #2, and PAC beating Cotto (no matter if the WBO belt is on the table or not) is not going to be champ until he beat Mosley.

The same apply to the case when PAC beat Mosley, he is not
the "champ" until he additionally beat Cotto ...

The word "champ" have plenty of meanings. 6 or 7 division "champ" means
"beltholder" not actually the "true" champion in these divisions.

Manny was just beltholder at 135lb by beating Diaz but he
is "true champion" at 140lb by beating Hatton and he will not be
champion at 147lb no matter of the belt and no matter of the weight by beating Cotto.

if the title is on the line, he's champ, if it isn't, he isn't

no big deal tho, those who matter will always know he beat Cotto who was one of the top2 WW's at the time.
