Let's say RJJ was born and raised in London. How would have it affected his career?

Well....There are no chickens in London so RJJ wouldn’t have had the most important training that made him so special which was chasing chickens. Lol

You hate Calzaghe and nothing will change that. Fine. We all knew that before this thread was started. I could have literally typed all of your responses thus far before you did. You're that predictable but thanks for sharing all of that anyway.

Now do you have anything else to add to this thread? Do you have any thoughts on whether Darius, Ottke or Beyer would have happened? Or any other Euro fighters? How about his American rivals? Would he have wanted them to head to Europe? Would he have been content to initially be the b-side to the American's A sides?

come on dont go hissyfit just because I am reiterating calzaghes resume fact for fact back to you. You should blame joe, I didnt ask him to hide from Americas best till they turned 40something, something noone else ever did in the history of boxing. Be proud of what he did do instead. He had an good unification win, for instance.

I was just correcting your output, no skin of my chin. Its your contribution that needed addressing, not mine.

Darius and Otkke wouldnt happen, I know that, now you are asking.

    Yes he would.

    He loves competing.

It's all he's known since he was 8 years old.

Whilever he feels good in the gym and he can still compete at a certain level, he'll continue to do so.

Retirement is going to hit him very hard.

Ok, so you can't really devote any post to this that doesn't focus on Calzaghe. Back on ignore you go as you've literally used up your last chance to converse with me on here. Your one track mind just doesn't allow you to answer a question without somehow involving him.

It's genuinely sad and you can do all the mental gymnastics you need to act like I'm somehow annoyed with you and love everything about Calzaghe even though this thread shows the opposite with me picking RJJ to beat a contender Calzaghe who doesn't become WBO champ due to Roy's status in the UK but I'm just disappointed to have wasted any time responding to you and that you've come in here to derail this thread with your one man-mania.

You're completely delusional. The man is broke and desperate. He has to fight to pay off debt. You're not doing your hero any favors by putting on these rose-tinted glasses of him loving to compete at age 50, ruining his health in the process. He can barely speak a coherent setence. The man has kids. He's a very very sad case and this is showing the brutal and bad side of the sport we love. Have some respect.

Roy would be hell of a different boxer.Big Difference in the Quality of American and British Trainers,American trainers are just so much better in terms of defence, offense, tactics and gameplan.Roy if he had a British Trainer he would
Be garbage,he would be good at one thing and rubbish at another.Lennox Lewis was born in London but he had a North American Boxing background and Specfically a American Trainer which helped him so much.Imagine if Bruno had that,he would be hell of a different boxer. That's why if i'm Joshua get a American Trainer in,sorry but Booth,Mccraken lot of them are limited and poor compared to the best of North America(inc Mexico,Cuba)

    You are the delusional one.

I've been watching him for 25 years.

Yes, he's broke. But he doesn't fight solely for the money. Again, it's also for the love of the game. He loves boxing. It's all he knows, which you'd know if you knew anything about the man.

How much do you think he makes for fighting these types of opponents? It'll be peanuts.

He hasn't even fought for a year. If he was solely fighting for money and he simply had to fight to pay off his debts, then he'd obviously fight more often, and he wouldn't be retiring would he. Think about it.

He can barely speak a coherent sentence? Yeah, that's why he's a well respected analyst for a huge TV network.

He's a shell of his former self, you really need to start acknowledging the ill effects our sport can have:

    I'm fully aware of it.

What's it got to do with my previous comments?

It would have been a far tougher time for Jones if he had of started his career in the UK. He possibly wouldnt have got a MW title fight against a fighter with no world title experience.
You have to remember who was around in the UK at that time and consider that Jones in under 30 fights back then would possibly have to have gone through Eubank, Benn, Watson, Collins who all could be argued to have beaten him.
I think Jones would have struggled at MW/SMW with those fighters around. Later there would be Calzaghe at SMW which is a fighter I would have favoured to have beaten Jones.

If he went up to LHW he may have had an easier run and would possibly have faced fighters like Woods, Prince, Ashley etc but may have had to have faced Michalczewski for a title shot and that was another fighter I would have favoured to have beaten Jones.

At MW and SMW in the UK I think he would have struggled. At LHW I think he would have done better

Nah, wouldn't travel just like Ward, but there was no doubting he would fight anyone if they come to Cardiff. Don't forget Joe was past his best v Hopkins an Jones Jnr as well. Good looking ****er too. He had it all, should be in movies now. God he was special !
