Lets see about who adds more the Calzaghe's legacy as an opponent for his last fight.

I think I agree. Moving up to crusierweight to beat Adamek would be the best move in the legacy stakes. Although a clear win over Hopkins in a rematch, or defeating Dawson to pick up an alphabetty title at LH would be almost equally significant.

They'd all add to his legacy but which fight would be the best spectacle? not B-Hop thats for sure.I'd like a mixture of both really

The best spectacle, would be the worst 'legacy' fight, in other words: a huge domestic tear up with Froch would be the best spectacle, but in terms of legacy it wouldn't add much if anything.

Legacy, schmegacy. Ottke was lowly regarded before he retired. A few years off and all of a sudden Calzaghe will become legendary for beating him? If Joe wants to retire undefeated he should be careful. Roy Jones was shot and had Joe seriously hurt in the first round. Yeah, Joe won going away, but the way he reacted to Jones' right hand shows he is on the decline as well. Fighting Dawson, who may be a future stand out himself, may be a mistake. Froch doesn't seem like much of a risk, but Joe should just concentrate on his hot girlfriend and enjoying spending his money. Calzaghe has already accomplished all he's going to in boxing, and he should leave it at that.

I dont know why people think hes got nothing to gain - think of how much talk there is of him avoiding dangerous fights.

Any more big fights, against any serious fighters, would help that talk go away.

Hes only 36 isnt he, and his staminas hardly going and his speed is good I think he should have another fight or two definitely.

I agree with the first part, but are you serious? Mundine is a joke, Ottke ko'd mundine when they fought, and Ottke has a 17% ko ratio. Don't get up on Mundine's nuts just because you're from Australia.

Dawson is available after Tarver, HBO is backing up Dawson right now, all Calzaghe has to do is say he wants to fight to Dawson and it's on.

Needs to retire, winning against Roy Jones (no matter how washed up he is) at Madisons Square Garden 46-0. I can't see how he can top that.

All Dawson has to do is gen up enough cash to interest Calzaghe and it's on. So far his bid is zero.

Which part are you having trouble with?

Calzaghe can easily retire now. It's not about who 'deserves a shot'. It's about whether anyone will pony up enough cash to tempt him into the ring again.
