There is NOTHING regarding "Catch-Weight" in the agreement for the "MANDATORY FIGHT" signed by both camps.

So, as it stands, Canelo has 15 days after May 7th, to sign a contract to meet GGG, or he has the option to forfeit the belt.

At this time there is a SIGNED AGREEMENT for a MANDATORY FIGHT between Canelo/GBP and GGG/his management....

obligating Canelo to sign to fight GGG within 15 days after May 7th !!!

That is the substance of the existing agreement.

Canelo/GBP effectively can either choose to sign to meet in the ring, or decline.

If Canelo/GBP sign, then they begin to negotiate the balance of the contract.

If, after Canelo signs to meet GGG for the MANDATORY BOUT...
and the two camps can not come to an agreement... it goes to a PURSE BID !!!

O$CAR would like a "catch weight" and a 90/10 split... but I doubt that is in the agreement.

At this time... no one is certain that the WBC will inforce the agreement, but there are legal implications if the WBC tries to weasel out.

If canelo stipulates that the fight has to be 155 then GGG does not have to agree..and canelo can't have another voluntary defence...it's fight GGG or vacate

They could literally create a 155 belt for canelo and have ggg fight for the mw belt. This way they still get the large sanctioning from canelo defences. ☺

 

I guess the WBC will be forced to officially mint a new and as usual extremely credible category of belts for the middleweight division to settle the issue.
