:good this is exactly my conclusion also. most modern heavyweights we consider as 225 pound heavyweights were actualy lighter when recording their best prime wins! even george foreman was knocked down by lyle the first time he weighed as high as 225. the point must be is 225 plus even an advantage at championship level? lewis, bowe, willard and carnera were the only genuine 225 plus heavyweights among the linear champions in my eyes. you have to look for out of shape smaller champions and "d- list" belt holders and chalengers to make up a top ten!!!
i dont think tyson could really carry 225 plus even in his prime i think hed have lost something same as ali holmes frazier etc .
Very surprised that Buster Mathis hasn't come up yet. He came in under 225 exactly twice in his career, but was 232 for his best performance over Chuvalo. I don't buy Ali. His last great year was 1975, and he consistently weighed just under 225 for all four of those defenses. He was clearly better under 220, and ideally under 215. I can't go for Foreman either. Big George was just under 225 for Norton and Frazier II, and at his very best under 220, as he was in Jamaica. Page belongs. His best was 227 for Snipes. Bugner? I prefer the lighter and more mobile Joe under 220, as he was for Ali I, but it must be acknowledged that he was over 225 for all his bouts after turning 25 and reaching full physical maturity.
