I sincerely hope Calzaghe wins and am definately a fan of his but I just have a feeling we will see him unravel under the Vegas lights against a resolute and rejuvinated Hopkins. Frustration and his innate tendency to brawl will see Calzaghe lose his grip on the fight with Hopkins coming on strong in the later rounds (I know he's a fossil but he can still go for 12 rounds).
lol I've not voted yet either have now.... once again i'm not picking BH to attention seek just my gut feeling.
B-Hop to win this fight by stoppage. I can not see it going any other way now. B-Hop is ready for this fight where as Calzaghe will fold under the Las Vagas lights.
My only concern is that Calzaghe is talking about throwing 500 or 600 harder punches instead of his usual 1000+ - he wants to hurt Hopkins and stop him. I just want to ask him one simple question ''Joe, if you hit Hopkins with your hardest punches what is more likely to happen: A) You knock Hopkins out. B) You damage a hand on Hopkins' hard skull and have to fight the rest of the fight one-handed.
Ok. I know Calzaghe is a great fighter and he is really tough with a very good chin and I really want him to win and hope i'm wrong but I have a big feeling that Hopkins will stop him. The reason for this is that I believe Hopkins will do everything and anything he can to disrupt Calzaghe from fighting his fast paced fight and that Hopkins will turn the fight dirty. Calzghe has shown time and time again and often gets criticised for doing the macho **** and wanting to ruck. When he keeps to plan JC is untouchable but against Hopkins and under the Las Vegas lights his mind will slip and he will fight Hopkins fight. I think Enzo will chuck in the towel.
That would be an amazing outcome..... Calzaghe strikes me as been a light heavyweight Pacquiaou. Serious defensive flaws often covered by his offensive game. I keep thinking Pacman-JMM for this fight only with less dynamite.
I think alot depends on how Calzaghe has adjusted to the states and Las Vegas and the big show feel. He has made alot of noise about fighting away in England which is fine but this time he is in next to someone who is a great and is also awful for him. I think Hopkins is totally wrong for JC as a fighter and a personality. JC loves a tear up but he does not want to be in that position with B-Hop. I basicallly think the same as you with the comparisons to the Bika fight, just that the hype is way bigger and the opponent is way better. I think Calzaghe needs to win it clearly to his gameplan or else Hopkins will stop him.
damn I was already starting to lean towards Hopkisn a bit but after reading that I fear Joe has no chance. I hope despite the well thought out predictions you two are wrong !
Did you see Rees - Kotelnik?? You seriously think Enzo will throw the towel in on the biggest night of his and Joe's life? Anything could happen in this fight apart from that scenario.
