Let's settle this once and for all regarding HOPKINS- is he a boring fighter or not?

    Its 50/50 he can boring at times but he can also put on some amazing boxing clinic.

    I was watching Hopkins' career set the other day and it got me thinking. First of all, before some of you jump on this thread and accuse me of not being a fan of the sweet science, know that Marquez and Floyd are two of my favorite fighters and im all about the tacticians and boxer punchers. A thinking fighter is what floats my boat.

    But looking at Hopkins, i can't stop thinking how ****in dull and boring this guy is.. I mean dont get me wrong, he was much more aggressive in his younger days as he showed against Glenn JOhnson but if u look at his style it's very simple... Hit and clinch, hit and clinch, sneak in sum dirty shots on the inside and wait for the ref to break them up.. I mean dont get me wrong. I respect his dedication to his craft and his guile, but all im saying he's not too pleasant on the eyes...

    IN short, he aint NO JAMES TONEY.... Like Toney said, Hopkins is no throwback.. Throwback fighters didnt hit and hold for dear life....

    I think he is exciting against the right opponenet...He was awesome and very fan friendly when he fought Kelly...

    go back to the winky fight and that was one of the worst fights i have ever seen

    While he's boring to just about any and all 'casuals' out there, I can certainly be entertained by watching him myself. Boring does not equal shitty... I voted YES. He is not an exciting fighter to watch.

    not the biggest puncher, not the most athletic, not the most naturally talent, really hasn't got that many things going for him and so is a great example of perfecting the foundamentals then you can become great, he's a scientist! give me hopkins over roy jones anyday.

    fascinating to watch.

    Mostly boring. Winky and Calzaghe are two of the worst fights ever.

    There's also a myth that he used to be a super attacking pressure fighter. For the Johnson fight maybe. His style didn't even change that much.

    Some of the fights were good some were not. It's hard to say he was boring overall, maybe later in his career more than earlier.

    I thought his 2nd fight with Echols was decent and the Trinidad fight was good as well.

    Nothing out of the ordinary. Not blistering speed, great chin but again not LaMotta-like, and not ridiculously tall for the weight.
