Could the man called Brockton Blockbuster make the giant from UK fold against his all-out pressure?

Or the skilled Lewis control the pace with his jab and size.

    Vote and discuss guys.

marciano was a truely great heavyweight, brilliant in fighter/hard puncher and great stamina and relentless.

but he was a great heavyweight in his own era, which was full of 190lb to 200lb heavyweights and 6.1 /215lb sonny liston who came in the era after marciano was considered a monster.

could the 5.10 /185 lb marciano , consistently get inside the huge height /reach/weight/power advantage of a lennox lewis who had the skills to use his size to keep smaller 230lb men of his era at range.

but its unfair on marciano, because he was a great heavy fighting similar sized heavys in his own era, just the size of heavys today means marciano would be a very small cruiserweight in todays terms

    Lewis without question.

He's just too big for Rocky - I don't see any way for Marciano to get past the jab. Lewis will eventually start throwing big right hands behind it and I doubt it will go the distance.

Lewis at 6'5 240+ would beat the brakes out of the smaller, 190lb marciano. That's no disrespect to an ATG like Marciano, but lewis would just be too be and strong. Marciano, is a legend, but sometimes people, go way over board in overrating him.

its not really fair to the rock. he was fighting in a day where the hw's were much much smaller. he would cut through the cw ranks though. he was relentless, strong and had power in both hands. he's known for his suzie q but his left was devastating as well.

lennox is huge and talented and he would be fighting what essentially would be an average size cw by todays standards.

U can't be serious. 50lb weight edge! Marciano wouldn't last 3 rounds and would be lucky to survive the fight with his life!

    Case closed!

Since I joined in 2006, never seen a thread about this actually, but atleast there is a tag that this could be the final and all for this fantasy match-up.:yep

There's a good reason for that. It wouldn't even be close.

I think even in today's HW division, Marciano could still be a competitive HW, and might even snag a couple of belts.

Who could have beaten him today? Not many I suppose.

    You can't be serious!

He was a cruiserweight and was vulnerable to being hit.

Both Klit's despite being giant sacks of **** would be simply too big and Haye would slaughter him.

He was good in his time but evolution buries him in this day and age.

When people say 'he was a Cruiserweight' I would like to remind them that smaller guys have beaten bigger guys before.

I personally think the Cruiserweight division is just another way to grab sanctioning fees, and that fighters less than 200lbs could still make things tricky for the Lewis'/Klitschkos/Bowes of this World.

But with Marciano, he is a guy that won wars of attrition. Against Lewis, he will see someone big, strong, and educated. Can't see Marciano getting too much done, and Lewis, ever cautious, will jab him until Marciano gets tired out and lower the boom.

Two outcomes; Marciano, true to what we have seen of him, keeps coming and loses on points.

Lewis; as he did when faced with someone he deemed truly dangerous, does what Walcott and Moore managed and gets Marciano down in the early rounds. Unlike those guys (who were very good offensively, especially Moore; IMO a top 5 alltime P4P puncher) I see Lewis following it up and doing the unthinkable and getting Marciano out of there.

IEither way I can't see The Rock pulling it out. This is not a question of size but of class; Lewis was the better Heavyweight. Marciano may have a punchers chance over the less dedicated Lewis that thought he could just turn up and beat Rahman (and to an extent, McCall) but, despite the Suzie Q, I don't believe Marciano to be a one-punch K.O artist, he was a fighter who required on his will to drag you into a war and take you out.

Lewis; who was intelligent, faced more punchers than any Heavyweight champ; there is no way Marciano wins. Not in my rational mind anyway :good
