We all know Ali and Louis 1 and 2. Who is the third greatest heaving of all-time. Lewis or Holmes?

Between the two, I'm going with Lewis. He just has more depth on his resume:

    Vitali Klitschko
    Mike Tyson
    Evander Holyfield
    David Tua
    Razor Ruddock
    Oliver McCall
    Hasim Rahman
    Mike Weaver
    Tommy Morrison
    Ray Mercer
    Tony Tucker
    Frank Bruno
    Andrew Golota
    Shannon Briggs
    Francois Botha

Just an overall better group than Shavers, Witherspoon, Mercer, Leon Spinks, Weaver, Cobb, Smith, Berbick, Cooney, Norton and a shot Ali.

    Said this previously

For one: I don't think Louis is one of the 3 best.

I do think Lennox h2h could have been the best but again going by peaks...........his peak had some valleys............I personally feel the best Lennox on his best night could beat all 3.

Theres no right or wrong answers both fighters have pros and cons.

Lewis suffered two KO defeats close to his prime where as Holmes never lost in his prime. Holmes also had his McCall/Rahman moment vs Shavers/Snipes and got up off the floor the win both fights which is a form of greatness Lewis never showed. Holmes also had slightly better statistics winning 20 title fights to 15 for Lewis and beat 15 ranked opposition compared to 13 for Lewis.

But Lewis had stronger opposition overall unified the Heavyweight title and unlike Holmes beat every man he ever faced.

So it depends on your criteria honestly do you like the more consistency from Holmes with slightly better statistics ? Or do you prefer the stronger opposition for Lewis added to the fact he beat every man he ever faced.

It's a close one honestly I wouldn't be grudge anyone who chose either man.

We don't all know that. I have Foreman and Louis 1 and 2. Not everyone has Ali and Louis 1 and 2. And not everyone has Lennox or Holmes 3.

I have Lennox over Holmes though.

I think Lewis is better just based on the fact he beat better opponents and didn't struggle with them as much as Holmes did (he arguably lost the Witherspoon fight and the Williams fight). I'd honestly put Lewis second over Joe buts that's just me third is fine though.

it's near impossible to pick No. 1 (Louis, Ali, Tyson), nevermind No. 2, 3, 4 or 25 or 100...

you could list 10, sure, and be very close to 'possibly' listing the Best, but after that they are all Great Fighters among loads of great fighters!

Because Foreman was a bit past it when he beat a prime Ali in a stunning upset. Oh, wait.

There is only one way to find out, Mr Lewis and Mr Holmes, get back into training camp and prepare to do battle.

Let's stop with the whole this guy is number one all time and this guy is number 15. Who knows and who cares. All of the era's are so different it is near impossible to accurately rank them. From a historical aspect, yes, Ali and Louis are probably the most popular ever but they both were certainly beatable.
