Mike Tyson-Alex Steward... Mike crushed Alex Steward in the 1st round while barely getting hit by the slow fisted heavy slugger who couldn't tag Tyson and seemed intimidated out of his game by Iron MIke..

Around the same time frame Steward gets floored twice by Foreman but persists by getting up and proceeds to beat up and swell Foremans face into a FUBAR like state of well being.

Now undoubtedly Stewart tried harder and persisted with fighting Foreman cos he felt he could win.

It was the same with Michael Moorer another fast big puncher at that point early in his career, Steward fought back after taking severe early punishment as he felt he could win.....but than u think back to how intimidated he was with Tyson.... he seemingly didn't try as hard with mike so my conclusion is Mike got a easy kayo over steward with intimidation.

Now George Foreman had that good old boy act going heavily from 1987 onwards. ........He was all about praying for his opponent, taking it easy on them when they were hurt............yet he still seemed to be scoring brutal stoppage and knockout after knockout with little effort. He trained hard but ate hard too....like he said "call me what u like........as long as u call me for dinner"..he made a big thing about being fat (he wasn't, by todays HW standards ) ....he kept going on about being 40 and not wanting to tire himself out.......and he took to eating giant cookies at press conferences to further project himself as harmless.

This probably defused his old aura totally in a lot of opponents minds. Opponents didn't think they were gonna get hurt bad and they saw the good ole boy routine and felt foreman was mellowed out.

Ok now......Lets suppose instead when george came back in 1987.....he hadn't been religious or fighting to build a youth club. ......Lets say instead he needed money to buy jewellery......and a mansion .....and to corrupt kids with drugs and to set up his new rap record label, let's say instead of craving Maryland cookies he instead craved fame and the bitches it bestowed, and all the dreams it could bring......he was hellbent on doing it and not letting any nxxxer stand in his way. So George comes back surly, angry at those who had consigned him to history, he gets himself into a bad motherfffucckers shape with steroids that were undetectable, he has contempt for the press and media.....he goes out of his way to score devastating knockouts....he hits guys after the bell and while they are semi prone (like cooney-norton) ....he threatens people at press conferences . He wears a black demons robe into the ring with a darth vader like mask hissing black smoke. While wearing this he is inside a cage and the cage is wheeled to the ring...... a commissioner unlocks it with a key next to the ring........George emerges out of the mobile cage and into the ring . He terrifies foes and fans alike. Sinister ring entrance music plays throughout this (similar to the original score of the "day the earth stood still" reducing his opponents to a trunk soiled state

Would it have led to more knockouts where guys like stewart would stay down rather than take a frightful beating? Thus giving George an easier night?

George would still have archie moore with him and all his skills he had mark 2,inside he'd still be calm and relaxed he would just be in better shape and more destructive in mind and body.

Would all this mean foreman no2 would have had more kayoes?

I think he's asking whether Foreman would have gotten more knockouts if he'd been more intimidating.

    I think.

    I'd say so.

Guys in a fight they think they can't win tend to take their lumps and wait for it to be over.

Guys that think they have a shot tend to inflict damage of their own, and that tends to put a damper on the beatdown they would otherwise have got.

    Fighting is largely mental.

That was entertaining to read! not being sarcastic either.

    Young Foreman's brutal legacy + Steroids + Old Foreman's knowledge + hungry = A bad man!

Not only would it had led to more KO's but I think we would inevitability seen Mike Tyson vs George Foreman.

That first post is just sensational. It's almost written in a different language.

Using the translation provided by others, as to the question asked......

I don't see anything wrong with Foreman's KO percentage as is. Are you wondering why Schulz went the distance, or Stweart? It's an enormous leap of faith to assume anything regarding a fighter's mindset. Only Stewart knew what was going on inside his head against Tyson. I always saw that fight ending the way it did because of a styles mismatch. Stewart wasn't hard to hit, and he started slow. The very type of opponent Tyson was always going to look good against. I don't think this fact was lost on Tyson's braintrust either. Against Foreman, Stewart didn't have the explosive speed or fast aggression to worry about that he did against Tyson, so he was able to survive the early onslaught and give himself a chance to come back.

    No huge mystery here.

I could see bad Foreman taking on six guys in one night in an effort to beat his previous effort of 5 in the 1970s.

After the fight he would look into the camera and tell Tyson " I'm coming for you. You want a father figure you need a daddy? Im going to come and finish what the first one started.........".

Mike would initially ignore it. Remembering the advice Cus D'Amato prophetically gave him as a 15 year old....along the lines of.." If the time ever arises and I'm not here......don't ever fight Foreman. He will murder you just like he did Joe".........

But down in Brownsville the word on the streets would be that Mike was running scared. In a fury Tyson would barge into a New Orleans restaurant where Don King would be eating oysters. He would cause a terrible scene screaming at King " get me Foreman now mottherf****er". Don would reluctantly make the fight............

You misunderstood what Cus told a 15 year old Tyson. Rumor has it, 'real rumor', that Cus told Tyson that Foreman would be making a comeback in 1987 to cash out and rebuild his church with the money earned from fighting. Cus said Foreman would take the low road to success and piggy back on his 1970's fame, and that Holmes would follow suit but only after getting poleaxed by Tyson in 1988 and only when Tyson would change his training team.

    Now THAT is prophetic.

It could have cut both ways to be honest.

It might be that Foreman's nice guy persona caused some people to underestimate the threat that he represented.

It might also be that his popularity led to him getting more title fights.

George Foreman knocked down Alex 2 times with grazing punches and instead of finishing him like he would when he was young he tried to get the ref to stop it. It came back to bite him in the ass. If George Foreman would of never had his religious experience and still came back especially if he was still good shape he would of destroyed Alex. Also various fighters like Savarase and Briggs punched him in the back of the head and he didn't do anything about it. You can even check out his post fight interview after the Briggs fight and he was talking about that. But a none religious Foreman would of punched back.

Here is a question for you the Jamal Perkins. According to Gil Clancy he wanted Foreman to come to Puerto Rico at least 10 days to get used to the heat and humidity. Foreman came a day before. Clancy also said Foreman brought some random guy who wasn't a part of his team to Puerto Rico and instead of going out and knocking Young out he toyed with him and kept listening to this guy. In round 7 or 8 (Whatever round Foreman had Jimmy Hurt) Gil told the guy to get the heck out of the corner and told Foreman to knock Young which he almost did.

The question is this, if Foreman didn't toy with didn't toy with Young and did knock him out. What do you think would of happened to Foreman? Holmes didn't want to fight Foreman, which you will never see people here say because 99 percent of them don't know what they are talking about. According to Jerry Quarry who was doing commentary doing the LeDoux vs Foreman fight. He asked Larry's people why isn't Holmes fighting Foreman (Foreman at that time kept calling Larry out, I think according to what I read Foreman and his people said they will beat Ali's ex sparring partner Holmes to force Ali in the ring). But Holmes people said they weren't going to let their fighter get in the ring with that animal Foreman.

So who did they have at that time who were contenders? Glass chin Shavers, Tate, Weaver and a few others. Lets say Foreman beat them got the belt back and kept it for a few years. Do you think he would of came back. Also if he did and was still in a good shape do you think his comeback would of played out the same?

I don't think anyone you stepped in the ring with Foreman was viewing him as some sort of nice guy.

He did show too much compassion in his fights though. That is clear. But then he was aware that some of these opponents weren't up to much and he didn't want to kill them.
