Judging from the Marquez fight, yes Chris John is a very good fighter and a very underrated one. Still, the fact that he is content to stay at home and defend against bums or just decent opposition drops him much in my eyes.

I'd love to see a rematch with Marquez in the States or a match with Pacquiao. :deal

He is getting old for the division now. These lighter guys dont usuyally go on in years like the heavies. he is in the same division as Juanma. I cannot understand why someone hasnt snatched him up for the big $$$.

Chris John is underrated. He's a solid beltholder.

The point deductions in the JMM fight were BS, though. I had JMM close but clear without deductions but had him losing by a point with them.

John is good, but not on the JMM/P4P level. His win over Gainer is goo,d but Gainer is definitely on the downslide and wasn't "great" to begin with.

The only reason he (John) looked somewhat good against Marquez was the styles matchup. He's a semi-slick, safety-first fighter that sticks to his home country, not P4P talent.

Maybe because John himself isn't willing to participate in those fights?

    He shouldnt be rated highly

His one decent win is against Marquez and that is with controversy, if the decision rightfully went to Marquez that night then no one would care who chris john is.

But oh well hes making a good fighting C level opposition in his backyard

He isen't p4p because his fights are impossible to watch. Boxing is there to entertain us afterall.

One big factor in his not being snatched to bigger international exposure I think is the BALI bombings. I guess his handlers and himself included gave that as a concern in weighing options as to whether he can thrive under American promoters. The chance of being ridiculed though farfetch maybe is in their minds.

Some friends who have watched gave the edge to Cris John over JMM in that bout...

Jhon can fight. Gainer was an idiot in the ring, didn't look like he wanted to fight. Similar to when he ran from JMM in the ring. Marquez should of beaten Chris on the cards. CJ did win some rounds, but it was home cooking in Indonesia.

A homecooking would have been a SD but UD is much too deep to reckon...
