I like this fight but its a frustrating one for me.

This fight shows the best of Witherspoon while also showing his flaws.

Tim landed the better harder shots. And i am someone who values harder shots over volume when it comes to scoring.

But because Witherspoon didn't have a great work rate, he ended up losing. He spent too much time showboating and not throwing enough volume.

If fighter A lands 90 punches and fighter B lands 120 punches but fighter A landed significantly harder punches, i am inclined to score the fight for fighter A even though he landed less.

Clean hard effective shots >>>> Volume.

But sadly, Tim's volume just wasn't good enough. He had several moments of brilliance but spent too much time showboating and Larry ended up getting the nod deservedly.

I value clean harder shots over volume but you still need to at least come close to matching the other guys volume while landing the harder shots for me to give you the nod.

I will end up rewatching this at some point. Its definately a top 25 heavyweight fight for me in terms of entertainment. Its just frustrating because if Witherspoon had the work rate or say, a Ken Norton, he would be a top 15 heavyweight of all time. Such an interesting fighter : the underrated crab defensve, the powerful overhand right, good left hook, the up jab, just such a unique style.
