still pfp the hardest puncher I've ever seen. just ridiculous ko power in both hands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ebOGXzvwM5o
For me the P4P hardest puncher ever. He had some truly scary KO's. He didn't just knock you down he sparked you completely out, it was like his opponents had been taken out by a sniper, truly scary power.
I remember the buildup to the first Gerald McLellan fight - two colossal punchers going head-to-head. Jackson would have probably been even more effective were he not legally blind throughout most of his career.
I always wondered how Hagler would have taken his punch. Marvin took punches better than anyone ever had at middleweight.
Hagler had an awesome chin. But i have never in my life seen power like Jackson had. That **** was literally terrifying. His punch would literally freeze his opponents as though their brain had been short circuited by a bolt of lightening. Look at his KO of Herol Graham?!?!!? Herol was out BEFORE he hit the floor. From the time the punch landed on Herol's chin less than a fraction of a second later he was actually unconscious. I don't know any other fighter past or present that possessed that kind of discombobulating power.
The Terry Norris knockout was perfect. 6 inch right hand, perfect delivery followed by a left hook and another right hand. Jackson was special.
Without a doubt one of if not the hardest punching boxer in history...if only he had a Hagler like beard.
Yeah I often wondered the same. Clearly Hagler would have beaten him had they fought but how would have Hagler responded once he took a big hook from Jackson? Would he be hurt or would that incredible chin of his eat it up like every other big punch from every big puncher he fought. Truly a case of an irresistible force against an unmovable object.
His KO of Norris was his best KO in my opinion. His glove just touched Norris and Norris was in a sort of suspended motion. The next few punches just put him on the ground. His KO of Buster Drayton has to be my second favourite. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoyJFJu-_Js[/ame] About 8:20 onwards.
Devastating puncher with both hands. Great fighter, but a class below Hagler etc. I loved the way he would often point down at his foes as they fell when he KO'd them.
