... because I'm sick of all the glass jaw talk. I'm not an expert on the human body, but this is what I DO know for a fact: If a fighter is preapared for a punch, his ability to take that punch significantly raises. If a fighter gets hit in a fashion that makes his jaw do a cash register motion (I call this the cha-ching) he's going down. I also know that if a fighter gets hit directly on the nose, he is going down (unprepared of course). And more importantly if a fighter is hit hard enough in that area, he could die. Like I said, I'm not an expert. So I welcome any expertise on this. But I feel that people are clinging to this "glass jaw" ****, and don't really have an understanding of how a fighter can get incapacitated. Discuss :smoke
Also if you are taking a step back while expecting a body shot and get clocked upstairs - you're goin down. That was a beautiful set up by Marquez on the first knockdown and he deserves more credit as opposed to pointing out Pacquiao's flaws. The KO shot was more devastating because Manny was walking into it instead of away and created more momentum. Walking forward + chin up + big f'in punch = knocked out. That is the thing about this sport, sometimes you zig when you shoulda zagged and the opponent capitalizes on the mistake. A fight is never over until the final bell rings, all it takes is one second to change the momentum of a fight. High action slugfests should be applauded because of the bravery but it shouldn't always be expected. Most fighters want to win first and entertain second, the thing is some fighters need to be entertaining in order to win because that is their style and gives them the best chance. I'm sure if everyone could box slick and school the opponent without taking any return fire, they would.
