I was originally impressed, but hearing they were throwing $40M at that piece of trash Broner turned me off.

    Mayweather Promotions=Haymon Protective Services imo

Even though some fighters are still with Golden Boy. But Haymon is pulling all the strings.

You stated that Jay will be worse for the game than Al, I gave examples of why you're wrong.

They bought out Shaw Promotions, which gives them 19 nobodies and Stiverne. They signed Ward which brings their A list stable to 2. Meanwhile, Haymon has twenty top level guys.

Top Rank controls 52 fighters including Pacquiao, Marquez, Crawford, Lomachenko, Murata, JCC jr, Donaire, Mikey Garcia, Korobov, and Shiming.

If I were Roc Nation, I'd sign a couple of flagship names like Ward and then start building with young fighters just turning pro. I don't mean the young ones which it takes forever to groom. I'm talking about the Lomachenkos, Golovkins, Shimings, and Kovalevs which come with hefty amateur pedigrees and want to capture a title quickly.

They really dropped the ball not signing Rigondeaux and letting him go to Japan.

They've got the WBC HW Champ and Andre Ward. That's amazing IMO.

By the way OP, Roc Nation doesn't have enough top guys to fill a HBO, Showtime, or NBC card. They'll have to co-promote whatever they do with Ward and Stiverne. The dregs they got from purchasing Shaw Promotions wouldn't even make solid undercards for the premium stations.

However, they might be able to push some of their second rate fighters on ESPN. I fell asleep watching the season premiere of Friday Night Fights last night. They started with a dude who'd never fought anyone with a positive record fighting for the interim WBA belt of his division. Dude got sparked right away. Then they followed that farce up with two fat clumsy heavyweights slopping around the ring in a six rounder. Around there I passed out. Box Azteca has better fighters.

who is going to be helping jay z run the boxing wing of his company??

hopefully he doesn't think that (like donald trump) he can just walk in and start making big fights.

he's got to remember haymon aligned himself with gbp when he began.

I like it so far. Hope it doesn't lead to the Haymon Sports vs Roc Nation cold war...

Yeah, all that's good but Al, Mayweather and Jay Z might decide to hook up like Oscar and Arum. Then we will be looking at some good fights.
