This. I don't think many people were aware of just how difficult this leap has been historically.

I remembered watching his first fight with Edison Miranda where he fought the full 12 rounds with a broken jaw and ended up winning by decision (albeit in his hometown). The broken jaw looked nasty but he did show heart and determination to last the whole fight without it being stopped.

He was tough, strong, and a hard puncher but other than that he was short from elite level because of his one dimensional style and basic skills. Would have wanted to see him face GGG or Canelo but I think he would have lost to both of them.

Must we? I was sick of talking about this guy while he was active. Hell, before the S6.

Didn't really rate him at middle.. This is an extremely harsh statement because Abraham was a very tough man... And he did have good power scoring some good kos.. But when I used to watch him it was hard to be all that impressed.. He turtled up... Did next to **** all for 2 minutes of a round and threw the odd burst.... Very basic.. He did well with the style but pavlik would have absolutely battered the **** out of him

Tough as nails, serious one-punch KO power, nice high guard, but limited. Solid middleweight. Nothing more, nothing less.

Good way to put it. Good fighter, but a style that could be neutralized by a variety of other styles & not any one in particular.

His success at 168 is sold ever-so-slightly short.

Andrade would have boxed circles around him.
And Sergiy would likely have grinded out a win.
    **** Jermall. Abraham via decapitation!

But the whole "Abraham was a beast at 160" line is BS. At 168 he faced guys who fought him at a distance. It wasn´t as much size as style. Taylor was a former middleweight himself and he nearly outboxed Abraham from the outside. Froch channelled his inner Ray Leonard. Dirrell and Ward were exceptional boxers who loved to utilize distance and range.

Most guys Abraham fought at 160 were plodders like himself.

This is the supposed prime Abraham.

Overrated as a middleweight, underappreciated as a super-middleweight(horrible style matchups).

However I think he would have given Pavlik a good fight. They would have meshed really well.

I was 100% certain Abraham would murder Froch.
In my defense, I had just recently started following boxing and Froch completely flipped his own script.
But FFS! I was so excited for that one. I knew it was going to be one of the best fights of the year and that my boi Abraham was going to be back on track as a champ!
Almost flew out to see it live. Thank god I didn´t. Would still haunt me, that night.

Tell you what... when Andrade SHOWS he is capable of doing that, I'll concede. As talented as he is, he has done zilch as a MW titlist/contender.

    Americans never respect European fighters.

Abraham was a ****ing BEAST with a capital B in his prime at middleweight, make no mistake about that.

Whilst Abraham was doing his turtle shell for a few rounds and letting him, and then.... Abraham would proceed to beat the living **** out of that bum, Andrade got dropped and had a razor close split decision win against ****ing Vanes Martirosyan!!!!! Abraham would have DESTROYED Andrade.

and btw if you wanna see 'Prime' Abraham check out his fights against Edison Miranda 2, Jermain Taylor and Wayne Elcock.
