Quite simply, Willie Pep was the apex of all master boxers, calling him an artist doesnt do him justice... the greatest pure boxer to have ever been caught on film IMO, that likely means of all time.
maybe im Italian i love all them boxers, Pep, Basilio, LaMotta, Graziano, Marciano etc... or maybe an honoury Italian The thing with Pep is his footwork. He had the best footwork i have ever seen, this enabled him to do anything he wanted. He turned opponents inside out, controlled the center of the ring and controlled the distance. This let him control the fight and do what he wanted. His long range game was excellant he led opponents into exhcahnges then moved round there missing shots and landed counters, poetry in motion. On the inside he normally flurried changed his angle flurried and moved simple effective stuff but it all came from his footwork. I could go on all day about Pep
Ok china! you got me! Hahah I am very Italian. And Yes I happen to be a huge fan of Marciano, Lamotta, Duilio Loi, and Pep. Ok I admit Im bias there! But these legends deserve it! Italians are a proud family race. They do stick together. I will name one italian fighter I am not crazy about...Nino Benvenuti
Yes we are. I like Graziano but I'm not huge on him in terms of his fighting ability. Suzie, I think I saw the pic of you firing a gun. Can't remember what you said you were training for, but you do like quite a bit like a cousin of mine.
China, huh? Ok, I deserved that. It's hard not to at least give these guys a fair shake, right? I'll agree with you on Nino, Suze, and with Pete on Rocky, though he is one of the most likable fighters I am aware of; very Italian in that way, right? Yeah, some Italians like all races I guess, could be anything to look at, and others when you see their face you would bet a lot that they could only be Italian. I'll figure out how to post a picture one of these days. But for now, picture Robert DeNiro about 20 years ago. That other great Italian fighter.
Well you know, the Romans made a right rampage through the British Isles a long way back. Maybe that's why I see so many similarities in the British and Italian cultures. Too bad we didn't teach you how to cook. Oh, ****, I'm deep in it now.
Funny thing is Bobby is only a quarter Italian. He looks it plenty though in Raging Bull. A lot of Italian fighters are rough and tough with loads of heart. It's a very likable quality. Pep is on the entire other end - very graceful and artistic a fighter. Posting a pic is easy I think you just wrap the [] with IMG and then [/] with IMG too. As for your De Niro pic. This content is protected And why not Al Pacino too? Here's a pic of him when he was arrested as a young kid. This content is protected Pretty much all ethnicities appreciate their own fighters. Whether that be Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Italians, or Irishmen
Only a quarter? I didn't know that. Yeah, Pacino's got a face unlikely to be anything else. Or this guy, who had a face like a pizza pie... Damn, all this plus the three or four CC's on the rocks I had last night, and I gotta get my gravy today... By the way, you guys call it gravy? Mine always called it sauce and maybe it's a regional thing? http://www.makara.us/04mdr/01writing/03tg/bios/Capone_files/AlCapone10.jpg
Not all of us are tough, Greg... Proof! http://rantatonne.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/liberace_american.jpg
