I have a hard time NOT eating punches when I change levels. Especially when I have a guy on the ropes. Any pointers/tips would be appreciated thanks :good

I have no idea what you mean by changing levels.

Ah ok. My guess is you throw your punches too wide and get countered with shorter punches. The ropes are IMO a perfect place for countering, so that would not surprise me.

Make sure when going downstairs to keep your hands up as long as possible. Don't drop your arm and punch while standing straight up, dip down a little in full guard and then punch. **** needs to be compact in close, stay in guard as long as you can and throw short compact punches.

hmmmmmm....Good advice, my sparring partner Adbhi told me I had a tendency too that when I went low I would stick my chin up...which would also explain a lot. lol.

But yeah I'll give that a shot next time, Bend those knees, keep that guard up nice and tight, peek through it, wait for it then bam bam bam! :p

I like the way shane moves in this video(body punching @1:20). If you practise swift movements you won't get hit as much, theres a lot of funny looking body punching out there so you have to practising hitting air aswell as bag. Body punching is not easy to learn in practice so just be patient and listen to sparring partners comments. Body punching works best when counter attacking so make sure you know what you're opponants doing before you lower your hands.
