I agree, although it's a good tune up for Mayweather, it won't be competitive at all. If Ortiz is able to make it at least competitve, MAJOR props to him.

then why are people getting so worked up about floyd's statement? even if he says he wants to fight pac next everyday and nothing significant is done about the negotiations then nothing changes. if they really want it, they'll sit down and negotiate and not simply keep on their own

I'm guessing they'll come to some sort of agreement. I honestly think both parties have been putting off fighting each other while they both continue making big paydays while using each other's name and a potential showdown for marketing purposes. Floyd saying "Manny you're next" at his last press conference is going to help sell that many more tickets and PPV buys for his fight with Ortiz. Pac and Arum have been doing the same thing. The thing is, once they fight each other there in nowhere to go but down as far as money and publicity go. So why rush it? I wouldn't be surprised if they already have an agreement. Anyway, how ever it happens, I'm sure it'll all work out in the end.

and it has effectively gotten to the people's heads. they want to see how floyd does against a southpaw in preparation for a fight with pac. truth is, floyd saying he wants pac next does not mean they have hurdled all setbacks specifically the issue about drugtesting and purse split. after the fight, floyd will say he wants pac only if pac agrees to the demands, which is essentially what we have now. i think this has dragged on for too long. the fight should have happened a long time ago.

come on people, let's not get our hopes up too high. floyd will collect his money against ortiz and go back to his ways, that's it.

if something substancial comes out of all this then good. but i'm not investing any hope specially this is a mayweather we are dealing with.

ortiz got outboxed by peterson for the most part. ortiz could make it a little bit interesting at the outset but ultimately we know who the smarter and more talented boxer is. this is a clean ud win by floyd

I agree. We should have seen this fight back in March of last year or whenever it was that the first rounds of negotiations took place. That's what worries me more about this fight, not that we'll actually see it, but that they'll give it to us too late. When neither fighter at their peak or worse, way beyond it. Official Press Release: Floyd "Money" Mayweather vs. Manny "Pac-Man" Pacuiao Live @ the MGM in Las Vegas May 1st, 2017?
