Holmes didn't get K.O'd twice by low level opposition either.

Although as I said earlier, I give Lewis props for coming back from that.

Lennox did not get koed .

1- Against Mccall. He made the count 100%. **** that theory that he is 'out' and the stoppage was good.

The stoppage was bull****, the ref was brought by Don King. Don King at the time was mad at Lewis because Lewis forced Don to cough up money so Lewis won't go beat up on Don's cash cow Mike Tyson.

Don King punished Lennox because he wanted to send a message that Don is the head boss. So he brought out the ref and told the ref 'first chance you get you **** Lennox up ok'

Even HBO was saying that it was all a set up

Lewis got caught but made it up asap. He could have hugged his way to the end of the round and came back.

2- The Rahman fight is a anomaly time line situation

    What that means is

Lewis was robbed in the first Holyfield fight

    Lewis was suppose to win

If lewis was not robbed the Rahman fight never would have happened.

I don't want to go into detail how why that is but trust me I already did the math

3- Rumors are that against Rahman there was some serious shady **** going on. Now these are just rumors I read and was reported. I don't know if it was true. But a lot of issues was happening behind scenes

If you watch Rahman 1 closely, Lewis was drooling and smiling MINUTES before the knockout, I never seen Lewis drool like that ever. Now was he drugged? Who the **** knows. but it sure as hell don't look natural to me.
    Once again

it's just rumors, but I for one think there is much truth in it

So technically Lennox Lewis never lost

Holmes' opposition was awful. Lewis fought more ranked contenders, and beat the 'next guy'

Holmes argument is in number of defenses, but by **** most of them were atrocious.

On a head to head basis,I pick Holmes. Only a 60/40 thing though. I visualise Holmes keeping Lewis at bay with his jab a lot of the time. There again,Lennox has the reach to neutralise it. Both men's opposition's about the same quality.

What puts Holmes in front, achievement wise,is that I can't imagine him being stopped by two moderate punchers such as McCall and Rahman. Kudos to Lennox for avenging those defeats in emphatic style though. Even if McCall had n't started 'the crying game' Lewis was on his way to a ko victory.

This is taking delusional to a whole other level... Lewis over Joe Louis & possibly over Ali ? :-(

I'm not against Lewis, as I said, he was a good fighter. The one thing that did annoy me about him was wearing his protective cup up to his chest.
Was half expecting him to wear a Michelin man suit in some of his fights!

Exactly... people just spout out **** without knowing the real facts or having seen the fights just to make the fighter they support look better.

Also, it didn`t look to me as if Holmes was behind when stopping Cooney, I thought he was winning comfortably.

Tyson was still in prison. There is credence to the claim the fight was stopped prematurely (it was the 2nd round and he was the defending titlist), but it would have been wiser of Lewis to gather himself first before rising from the count. He looked discombobulated.

    :rofl

This is a really tough one to pick, both greats in their own right.

Actually this is a tough question.

Both have a soft spot for the right hand, However Holmes always got up whereas LL never did (to finish the fight). Only times Holmes was KOd was against a Tyson at his peak.

LL fought the better opposition. The old Tyson, Lewis fought is the equivalent of Larry fighting an Old Ali.

Holmes did school Mercer, something which LL struggled to do.

LL is 3 time world champ, Holmes, once i believe?

H2H, both are quite high on my list.

I did do a thread on this a few months back, what happens if they swap opponents.

    I definitely agree about Holmes/Cooney,Bill. Cooney's effort was gallant,but that's about it.

Both opponents (obviously) are significantly eroded. However, I'd suggest Tyson's power remained a bigger threat than the shell of Ali did, and was a more dangerous fight to the respective champion. Lewis was older than Tyson and was closer to the end than Holmes was against Ali. Both decent enough wins, Lewis's win over a more dangerous fighter at the end of his own career against a younger man.

I can't get my head around why a selection of either fighter over the other, H2H or ATG wise, gets so many knickers in a twist. Both of these fighters are the top top nearly men of the division behind Ali and Louis. Both have arguments for placing over the other.
