Benn wants to get down to 147 because it's a weak division at the moment. 154 would be perfect for him but that's too much of a challenge with the likes of Boots and Ortiz there. The talk about Benn on social media makes me vomit the blokes a cheat yet it all seems forgotten now.
I would say if Josh Kelly beats Murtazaliev they’d try and make that fight but Kelly winning that fight would put Team Benn off.
Kelly up against it in this fight and will do very well to see the 2nd half of the fight. Would love to see Benn have a tear up with Tim Tszyu and if he passes the warrior code against a man who loves a fight, a 12 rounds slow pasting fighting Murtazaliev and a last second stoppage would be very pleasing.
Besides the coming down in weight that he'll have to contend with, it's the smaller pay packets that will play a part in his thinking. He's coming at a career in reverse financially. He's earned his biggest packet and it will never be the same again. Most fighters have to fight for a title, to get the money. He's just collecting a title now to give credibility to his career. And I'm not a Benn hater btw, I'm all for him getting that green belt.
Notice IFL haven’t uploaded a you tube video for a week thought we would be getting inundated with Benn and Hearn videos.
The Adulation and overating of Benn on social media is very irritating like I said earlier the blokes a drugs cheat and couldn't get rid of a corpse last week. The brass neck of the bloke as well mentioning rehydration clauses!!! He won't fight Crocker it's high risk low reward i agree with others on here they'll drag a has been out for a big pay day. My money would be on Kell Brook.
Yeh benn’s (and eddie’s) egos won’t let him stoop low enough to take on Crocker even though it’s a decent fight that’s easy to make happen It’s the path of least resistance cash grabs from here on in for sure, I think when benns done with the sport and we look back on his career it’ll be a strange one, up and down the weights with whichever opponents make headlines but can’t punch, strange catch weights & avoiding the actual talent etc etc , ironically probably not too dissimilar to his old chum eubank
Hearn probably doesn’t want to stick any of his UK headliners in with each other and would rather them face someone else to maximise UK shows & crowds.
Benn's stock should be low, he's got a loss on his record to a weight drained has/never really was been.
He talks about wanting to win a world title though. So with that, surely you'd think Crocker would be a real option. It's a winnable fight, will sell out a big arena (possibly even a stadium), both are with Matchroom. He knows his paydays are gonna be less from the Eubank Jr fights but this fight would still be a decent payday anyway.
Conor Benn on Crocker “I’m not really interested. There’s bigger fish to fry in my opinion. Although he’s IBF, he not really a name that’s on my radar, for me, the 10lbs rehydration… I’d rather win the WBC. For me, that’s my main goal, or a big American name, and maybe come over here [Saudi Arabia] and fight the likes of Rollys, Garcia, Barrios…” "I want a big American name. That’s something that my dad done, that’s something I definitely want to do." ^ It really must be the IBF rehydration clause that is putting him off fighting Crocker.
I think there's a good chance he doesn't grab the WBC (if he goes for it first), and ends up with nothing. The Crocker fight, however, could set-up a unification nicely.
Yeah it's really surprising why he's not interested in Crocker, I'd assume he'd jump at it. He's too privileged, thinking he has all the options. Must be really bothered about the IBF rehydration clause, or maybe worried about Crockers power.
