And you can tell, he's totally transformed himself, he may have just fought the best fight of his life yet he's been beaten horribly, that's sad and got to be soul destroying.

Yeah it really must be. He gave it his best but he fell short and there's no shame in that.

I just hope the punishment he took tonight didn't take too much out of him because he took a sustained beating from start to finish and Ponce is a machine.

I genuinely didn't even know the ref could ignore the towel.

Clearly the ref knew the cards had been written already and was trying to get his man through to the end.

This stinks and could have seriously damaged Ritsons health.

If Steve Gray isnt sanctioned for this it's another low for British Boxing corruption.

Fair points and he did show heart last night but also he's not above criticism. From round one he used an illegal defence of turning sideways (almost with his back to Ponce) and dipped below the waist so all he presented as a target were illegal blows to the top of the head - that's not boxing. The ref should have put a stop to that but didn't. That was Steve Grey's biggest crime of the night, above refusing to accept the towel and making Ritson take two KDs he didn't need to.

    Steve Gray's performance made Howard Foster's Froch/Groves 1 look like a masterclass.
