It really doesn't matter unless it was intentional, which it clearly wasn't. It's impossible to throw a punch while someone is moving and to purposely hit them in the eye there's simply to many variables at play. If you don't believe me try doing it.

Care to give examples of this well known fact because I watched Lewis throughout his career and never noticed.

    From WBC Rules:

Accidental Injuries from Head Butts, Elbows, or other Accidental or Illegal
    Actions (injury).
    This content is protected

    a) Unintentional/accidental injury. When a boxer suffers a cut,
abrasion, or excessive swelling due to an unintentional/accidental
    head butt, elbow, etc.
    This content is protected

    - If there is an injury caused by a legal punch and the bout can
continue, and is later stopped after the start of the fifth round due
to an accidental injury, it will be a technical decision as per the
    scorecards.
    - All rounds will be scored even if it is partial round

It''s a little confusing because this certainly was a legal punch, you're making it sound like it wasn't. And besides all that, the ref obviously missed it if it wasn't legal, so that's life. Hell boxing has all kinds of that **** going on, always has. Ali use to pull the head of his opponent down, Holfyield has always been known as a head butter, Tyson almost broke someone's arm in a fight, and Lewis threw a completely illegal punch against Grant when he held his head and threw an upper cut. That was miles worse than this.

You seem like you're a bit of a ***** always bring this up. What about Vitali's attempt to kick Lewis while he was helping him up?

    Ha, you're alright Van.

Just to let you in, though: PityTheFool has been fighting Lennox's case for pretty much the entirety of the thread.

Lennox is a greater fighter than Vitali, by resume and skill in my opinion.. And won fair and square, clearly not at his best. what else is there to say?:think

Lennox is an ATG, but he was definitely on his way to KO defeat against Vitali. Just look at the way the two guys went back to their corners at the end of round six. Lewis practically staggered. One or two more rounds would have put Lewis on the floor.

How can you watch the last 20-30 seconds of the 6th round and honestly say that?? Vitali was hanging on for dear life at the end of the 6th. Don't take my word for it, WATCH IT!

I remember thinking Lewis was totally in control of that fight, and Vitali would go any minute when it was stopped.... It was stopped for a reason, and the right man won.

Are those figures fact? I see them getting thrown about a lot.

I'd imagine his response would be
1- Because he earned far more fighting Tyson and Holy.
2- He would have earned far more in a rematch with Tyson or RJJ, the only 2 fights he wanted.
3- 37 and ONLY 44 fights, stupid comment. The guy had 100's of am bouts and thousands of rounds of sparring on top of that. Also ONLY 37? How about you go look at the average retirement age of HW champs down the years.

    Quite easy to rationalize.
