Lewis had been in as bad shape and lost brutally. An old Lewis still got the job done despite being a bit fat. Can’t blame hi not wanting to go through a proper camp and work hard for a rematch. He did enough.

    About the wife issue.

No rich boxer with a trophy wife is being ordered around by the trophy wife. It's hard imagine any boxer being ordered around by a wife in any case. But when the boxer has fame and wealth and can get trophy wives off the shelf, it is laughable to pretend they are being bossed by a female like this.

It's a flimsy excuse for Lewis not wanting the fight. It's the trainer covering for him.

Now let's imagine Fury beat Usyk and then wouldn't do a rematch (similar age remember), saying he couldn't because Paris told him she didn't want him to box and would leave him. Not a single person would buy that and give Fury a free pass for it. In fact Paris wanted him to stop after Wilder, but Fury makes his own decisions.

If Lewis promised the rematch then pulled from it, with his trainer making this lame excuse, it means Lewis ducked the rematch because he didn't want to risk losing given how tough the fight was and likely knowing he was post-prime. It's pretty simple. It doesn't mean he didn't win the first fight. It means he took his ball and went home. If he didn't make that promise than he can do what he wants at that age. But at least own it and don't pretend the trophy wife is calling the shots.

Wtf. Last time I checked almost all the great soviet amateur from the past did not turn pro!! it's certainly not a ****ing myth!!!

Boris Lagutin, Valeri Popenchenko, Vyacheslav Lemeshev, Igor Vytotsky, Oleg Grigoryev, Danas Pozniakas, Alexander Yagubkin, Viktor Ageev, Nikolay Korolyov,Vladimir Engibaryan( and so on..)

The Soviet union did not permit professional boxing, it was banned.

And it was rare for one to move abroad to another country to fight, during those times.

Not everyone has trophy wives fam. Some people fall in love with each other and actually care about one another. It's not being bossed around. It's one person caring abot their significant other and the second acknowleding their feelings.

    From the horse's mouth:

"Some people said I should have fought (Vitali) Klitschko again, but what for? I beat him and there will always be somebody out there, someone else to fight, but I've created a legacy, so why put it all at risk?" - L. Lewis, 2008

Another day, another case of TKO 6. So it has been, and so it will be. Here's to another 20.

He also had a loss to Tyrell Biggs in the amateurs.

We know what happened as pros.

Eastern European Zelko Mavrovics wife was almost in tears at ringside watching their fight due to the beating he was taking.

Vitali was holding on after he took a short left hook at the end of the sixth round. His face looked like he had been in a car crash. He looked like one of those jack-in-the-box toys from the uppercut in the sixth round with his head getting punched into the air.

Meanwhile Lewis didn't really have a mark on his face after the fight and came into the fight in terrible shape and showed no skill in the fight, just walking forward. He got hit many times but wasn't knocked out.

Why are you naming guys who were ametures in the 21st century ? That renders your point meaningless, because we know for a fact there were Easter European pros at that point

Did you just forget about Zolkin ?

He quit after suffering a career-threatening injury and he redeemed himself against Lewis who couldn't ever redeem himself because when he quit in disgrace he literally quit the sport for good, allowing a quitter who quit against a hapless featherfisted CW to chase him into retirement rather than being a man and honouring his word

Quitting against a quitter is far worse than merely quitting
