He showed plenty of heart and fight after the doctor pulled him out - for the last minute of the 6th round he wasn't showing any heart or fight was he? Lewis TKO6.
:huh It was a pretty clear 4 - 2 in my eyes, and as for the guy who said Wlad would have KO'd that version of Lewis the uppercut he hit Vitali with may well have killed Wlad.
Agreed on the last comment but it wasn't a 'clear' 4-2 by any means, it could have been scored 3-3 or even 4-2 to Lewis on meaningful shots landed. I think 2 of the judges even gave VITLAY the 3rd round despite that being the round Lewis started to tear VITLAY up in, that's nonsense. Regardless of all that, scorecards only count at the end of a fight, not in the middle. If that fight had gone on Lewis would have either brutally KO'd VITLAY or won every round to a lopsided decision. VITLAY was ****ed in that 6th round and anyone who suggests otherwise is a moron.
:huh Lewis was completely gassed by the 6th round. He could barely stand up. Klitchsko was better conditioned for that fight. You can't say with any certainty who would have won if it went on, especially had Vitali not had that nasty gash over his eye.
Oh, so if Lennox Lewis hadn't been causing severe damage to Vitali by accurate punches, he might not have won?
It's in the rules didn't you know that? Whenever a Klitschko gets damaged by a punch it was "luck" When it's the other way round it's a case of "wow, what a punch, it sounded like a damn shotgun going off" :nut It's also the case that Lewis suddenly developed an iron chin when he was nearly 38 years old as VITLAY has the best KO ratio in the history of padded records and couldn't hurt Lewis. Then of course we have the irony of VITLAYS biggest sack swinger starting a thread about Lewis being KO'd....
This argument has been going on since the fight itself ended. For the record, Lewis won fairly TKO6 and no ifs, buts, would coulda shoulda is ever gonna change it.
Pretty sure Lewis also took the fight on 2 weeks notice. Vit also said he was very prepared to fight Lewis coz he had been sparring with Wlad who resembled Lewis and that they both had been preparing for Lennox as that is who they needed to fight to win the title. Lewis was preparing for Johnson who in no way shape or form was similar to VK. Could be fair to say Vitali was in fact much better prepared for Lewis than vice-versa
I have a photographic memory of Lewis/Vitali. Lewis was morbidly obese and looked at least 200 years old, he was already retired with no interest in boxing. He actually thought he was going to a great gay nightclub Wlad kept telling him about when his handlers led him to the ring. Just throwing his arms out in disinterest he accidently punched Vitali so hard his eye came out of his head, clearly the worse cut in the history of boxing. Vitali was begging his corner to stop the fight after the third round but they kept telling him to man up. He refused and folded like a ***** everytime the Lion took a step forward. Lewis didn't have a mark on him and was finding his second wind when the fight was stopped at Vitali's request. The fans were clearly being sarcastic to humor Vitali...the fool, thinking they were cheering for him. Lewis also clealry said in the post fight interview, "If dis white *** can win a round, I should retire, so I shall retire definetly." Lewis died of old age soon after. R.I.P. There you have it, at the absolute peak of his abilities Vitali was brutalized by a retired fat homosexual..clearly the worse fighter in history. If Lennox was in his prime and not gay, Vitali would have quit in the first round with most of his face missing and Wlad would have had a panic attack in the corner.
Lol exactly. It cracks me up when people come out with stuff like this - who do they think gave him the cut, the tooth fairy?
Lewis was knocked out by Prince Naseem Hamad in sparring leading up to the Vitali fight. That's how ill prepared and horrible he was.
Exactly, it was Lewis' signature eye slicing punch. He times his right cross in such a way that when his opponent is pulling their head back, he just makes contact with the eyelid at an awkward angle. Even near death in the twilight of his life while carrying rolls upon rolls of fat, Lennox could execute this awesome very intentional punch. The cut to the mouth was the worse by far though...I've never seen a boxer bleed from the mouth before. It was unreal!!! Lewis was just battering him with clean punches.
