I thought I was the only one who remembered that.

That infuritated me to to no end. VK had all that talk for Lewis, but when Rahman, Ruiz and Valuev came knocking on his door he comes up with a million excuses, calls for Lewis to come out of retirement (Lennox laughs at him every time his name come up) and then the only fight he takes is Danny Williams and he retires!:patsch

Total coward! I lost whatever little respect I had for the Klitschkos then and there.

I'm a Lewis fan but he wasn't fat and out of shape - old and unmotivated perhaps.

he was well above his fighting weight - 8 to 10 pounds i believe

when a athlete of that size who is training to that level of intensity for 9 weeks and comes in above a weight he has maintained for years its absolutely means he is out of shape

Oh GOD!!! Those injuries were fake as HELL!!!!:patsch

Every time the Rahman fight was being negotiated it was something new with that guy. I heard he even faked spraining his pinky finger while (feigning) signing the contract for the Rahman.

VK is TRUE PUSS, 1st GRADE CLASS!:-(

It was also the first time Lewis had fought in just over a year.

HBO had actually been building a Lewis-Wlad fight but did not want it after Wlad got KO'd. You tell me who you think had a better training camp, Lewis who had to get in shape first after a year long lay off who would not have been too motivated against a relatively easy opponent (Kirk Johnson) or Vitali who was at his peak training for his most dangerous opponent at the time (Corrie Sanders). At the end of the day he was not dominating the fight at all, although he was slightly winning, and he had a cut which was opend by a punch which renderd him unable to continue. Why don't people stop and think how a peak Lewis would have done against that Lewis.

    :patsch Peak training for Sanders?
Vitali trained for a stay-busy 10 rounder and took the fight on short notice.
Lewis trained for a 12 round championship fight with Kirk Johnson.

If anyone has an excuse of not training and being out of shape it's Vitali.

Lewis wasn't fat and people are making too much out of 6 pounds. Was Vitali fat when he weighed in at 252 for Arreola?

It's funny how people are trying to say Lewis was not over weight. In his prime he was probly 230-235, what was he against Vitali 255? Anyway I think he looked slow in that fight by his usuall standards.

I actually thought he looked worse than he did in the first Rahman fight, heavier, slower and just generally more lethargic and unconditioned. Difference was though, Rahman took his opportunity when it was there, Vitali didn't (or couldn't).

Funny you say that when Vitali fought Sanders instead of giving him a rematch. I remember him ducking Briggs a few years back as well. Briggs was calling him out on a daily basis but Wlad only unified after he lost to a none puncher. He could have had a Peter rematch a lot sooner than he did as well but he waited until Vitali beat the **** outa' him first. Again Arreola is a more dangerous fight for Wlad than Adamek, who has little power. Wlad has never beaten a stand out fighter.
