I doubt they were ever in their primes at the same time. I think Lewis was at his best when Bowe was well past his. With that said, who wins and why?

Lewis. Better on the outside. Better defense. I don't see it being fought in close.

Bowe was down vs. Holyfield and Golota but was never stopped. He is one of only 3 lineal HW Champs who were never stopped (Tunney and Marciano are the others).

Bowe dropped Holyfield 3 times and stopped him once in 3 fights. Bowe was dropped by Holyfield once. Bowe was at his best in the first fight and I think Holyfield underestimated him a little. Holyfield regained his top level in the 2nd fight but Bowe came in a little heavy. Neither was at thier best in the 3rd fight but Bowe's weight was good.

Lewis and Holyfield fought twice with no knockdowns. Lewis was at his best in both fights, Holyfield was past prime but was better prepared in the rematch.

They both fought a past prime Tyrell Biggs, both stopped him. They both fought Lionel Butler, both stopped him.

Both men beat every man they faced at some point. Lewis was stopped by McCall but avenged the loss. Lewis was stopped by Rahman but avenged the loss. Lewis drew with Holyfield but also beat Holyfield. Bowe went 2-1 vs. Holyfield and did not lose to anyone else... well actually, Bowe never beat Buster Mathis Jr... the fight was a NC.

Both men are 6'5" and 235 Lbs or more. Both have over 80" reaches. Both men are good boxers with dominating jabs and excellent power. I do think Lewis had the more powerful right hand though. Bowe was more durable.

I'm going with Bowe by decision, prime vs. prime. Good fight, both men get rocked, neither goes down, close decision.

Had they fought in '93 I'd take Bowe by KO... but I think Lewis would win a rematch by decision vs. an overconfident Bowe.

Lewis - much faster, a jab Bowe would scratch his head about, better defense, the power to KO Bowe's shoddy's defense, better puncher, better uppercut, much stronger. Not to mention he did better against like opponents

Sure, Lewis stopped Golota in 1 and Bowe struggled with Golota x2. They both fought Holyfield. Bowe dropped a better Holyfield than Lewis fought. Bowe also dropped Holyfield once in 3 fights. Lewis did not drop Holyfield in 2 fights, he sure didn't stop him.

When they fought he was obviously stronger and faster. He performed better against Holyfield (2-0 as opposed to 2-1), destroyed Golota in 1 as opposed to being ruined and retired by him, ko'd Biggs in 3 who took Bowe 8 and hurt him a few times

Bowe had plenty of problems with Biggs who Lewis bossed and stopped earlier. Lewis didn't lose to Holyfield either

Prime versus prime, I like Bowe. He had a better chin, and when focused, better all around fighter. He had a great teacher in Futch, I do think he could get inside on Lewis behind his jab.Once he got there, I think he would wear him down. And stop him late. Good point made about Bowe never being stopped, Lewis could be reached and stopped. The Bowe that Golota got to was done by then...

I think in 1993, Bowe would have one. He was at the top of his game, while Lewis was still a tad rough around the edges. A post 1994 version of Lewis beats any rendition of Bowe however.

I have always thought that Lewis would have won had they ever fought.

I don't quite see Bowe having the beating of Lewis in his real world fights, but I do see Lewis having the tools to beat Bowe on the same criteria.

Because Bowe was a lot further gone, shot I would say against Golota, it was proven in the second fight and he retired, whereas Lewis was coming off his career best wins. Most people thought Lewis was top **** after he beat Ruddock. Bowe never got knocked out when he was in his prime or even as a young up and coming fighter.
