I thought Cardle was taking him out but he only had 2 rounds in him and folded himself

Yes, can’t stand Cardle but fair play to him that night he went out on his shield.

    Briefly.

He's obviously not as tough as he thinks he is because he doesn't show much respect for anyone's power, he'll have to from now on though.

It isn't looking that good on British boxers considering Ritson ran through four of them within eleven rounds and a European guy made him look average.

Patera is a good solid fighter who is European level but would get beat in 9/10 world title fights.

Ritson looked lacking in something tonight didn’t have the power he has shown and seemed low on energy maybe a bad weight cut?

Did say he got caught by a body shot in the fifth and could really re group from it. Least he was honest and the right man got the decision in a good close fight.

Ritson has been moved on quickly and maybe needs a bit of a rest before he goes again. Was too predictable and one paced, one dimensional with his shot selection but can hardly criticise and say he’s not that level or is **** because of that one performance.

Don’t think it helped having him fight on that Birmingham card so close to this fight, he will come again a loss isn’t everything just puts him back and shows where he needs to improve which I’m sure he can do.

Good post that, Tez. I mentioned this on another thread but I was really surprised at just how square on Ritson was tonight. For a combination thrower like Patera, he was able to rattle off shots on both sides of the body and head of Ritson.

I think it was just too much too soon...not in terms of the step up but in terms of the hype and following generated. That’s the job of Hearn and he’s done a great job with that but he looked anxious in there for me...Bellew talked about the pressure at Goodison and although that was for a world title, the pressure would have been similar....you’re the Geordie Golovkin, the northeast’s next great hope, Alan Shearer cheering you on etc etc.

I think the occasion got to him, he neglected the fundamentals and loaded up with single shots just hoping to get him out of there so he could unburden himself of the pressure placed upon him. I feel for him tonight...he will beat Patera in the rematch convincingly.

He will need to make adjustments. Patera has his number now and its obvious he is vulnerable to the body. He was badly hurt in the 5th and the 10th from body shots. He showed some great qualities tonight (jab, pressure, heart) but became predictable and lacked a plan B. Definitely agree with the pressure element some people thrive on it and others fold. Might have to invest in a new trainer to take his game to the next level.

Looking okay to me. Nobody is beating Loma or Mikey from these shores and never was going to. British boxing is doing very well overall.

His corner were absolutely useless aswell, couldn't adjust to what they were seeing front of them and were deluded into thinking Patera was gassed.

He also looked incredibly tense in there tonight, ask pricey for what that does to ones stamina. Good step up though and hopefully he comes back soon.

Just watched this, how on earth has 1 judge scored this 4 in favour of Ritson?

    That is a dreadful scorecard
