Word on the street is this one is being made for October. I'd imagine this will be at welterweight. Interesting fight I'd slightly favour Cyrus Pattison due to his rugged toughness and size but if Ritson's power carries up I can easily see him winning. Cyrus is very fit but I think he's starting to sound punchy in interviews. I don't think Cyrus is on the level of O'hara Davies but should squeeze past on points unless his chin has gone. I used to know him definitely seems like he's slurring his speech.
I'm not voting yet haven't made my mind up completely but heard from good sources this one is happening in October.
You sure it’s happening this October? I thought Pattinson would fight Conah Walker on August 19 in Birmingham and the plan was to make the Ritson clash next year. Anyhow it’s a great fight and another piece of brilliant matchmaking after Pattinson’s FOTY contender against Chris Jenkins. I think Ritson is too small for 147 so I would say Pattinson on points. Could be too early for him though considering he has never fought past 10 rounds. Would be a great headline anyhow.
Pattinson looks as though hes taken a lot of punches, mainly at amateur id guess but wouldn't be surprised at what's been said. However Ritson has had his day. Ive gone Pattinson points on the undercard of a big Newcastle bill. BTW can anybody tell me about Pattinsonsd amateur career. AS far as I know he was GB without achieving too many honours. Could be wrong though.
Can't see October though. Prepared to be wrong. Is there a big bill coming up? Dont see it as headliner.
Pretty much hit the nail on the head. He was on GB which is a great achievement but never managed to really make a stamp at that level. I used to go to college (boxing academy) with Cyrus about 10 years ago. He definitely had talent and some fire in his belly, I don't know why he stayed amateur so long tbh but he did. When I listen to his interviews it looks like he's had a valid and struggling to get his words out. Heard they do 20 rounds hard sparring a day at Birtley, can't argue that it's a great gym and produces champions but over time the fighter coming off second best collectively takes a lot of damage. Cyrus was always coming off second best to Pat and Luke I'm told. Anyway I think he should get past Ritson in a close hard point decision but can't see him reaching world level especially with how strong the WW division usually is. Mind you I'll hold my hands up maybe Ritson can do it he he's strong at the weight and still hungry.
Thanks for that mate. A bit of inside info is great. Otherwise we are just speculating. 2nd best to the brothers I can definitely see. However I think it's the fashion now in all quarters to predict big things for ex amateurs who have done well in international competition, until they've really done anything in the pro ranks. Fingers crossed for them, they could achieve big things.
Although it was a very entertaining, it’s bad news for Cyrus that he had to go through such a close and hard battle against a shot Chris Jenkins. Good matchmaking against Ritson- I expect him to win well, possibly by late stoppage as Lewis is ready to go and I can’t see him coping that well at the higher weight.
Ritson ain't no 147er. Cyprus on pts. Shame that Ritson never fulfilled that early potential he seemed to have when he was clearing out the domestic scene at Lw, I've always liked Ritson and rooted for him in any of his fights.
Pattinson is a quality talent, speed, skills and power. Definitely been impressed with him as a pro so far. He'd be too good and too big for Ritson imo. People used to rave about Scott Fitzgerald on here after his win over Fowler. But you can see a video on youtube Pattinson vs Fitzgerald in the amateurs where Cyrus looks a level above, schools him, and like Fitzgerald made Fowler look slow, Pattinson made Fitzgerald look slow! (Alarming and surprising if he's really slurring his words though)
Don't like talking about fights that haven't been confirmed, but if Pattinson beats Walker in his own back-yard on Saturday with no trouble, he will fight Lewis Ritson which will headline a card in Newcastle on November 11. That would be a big fight for Newcastle. Also a great run for Pattinson fighting Jenkins, Walker and Ritson this year. I'm surprised Pattinson is taking such a tough fight less than 3 months before the planned date. I wouldn't be surprised if the planned contest gets delayed until next year.
Cmon now You always talk about fights that haven't been confirmed Ritson will lose this at that weight He has not progressed one bit since his first loss
I haven’t for the past few weeks. I even didn’t make a post about Wood vs Warrington or Cameron vs Taylor II. I agree that Ritson is too small for 147 and will lose. Pattinson is inexperienced though. I rate that he is moving quickly. Hearn said that there will be a show on September 30 headlined by a World Title fight which the October Red interview will like apparently. I wonder who it is. I hope it isn’t a female fight (not being sexist). Edit: Apparently it’s Ellie Scotney headlining. Disappointing headliner but some of the other shows make up for it.
