Lewis was nowhere near his best performances and that was hist last fight. Was he shot already ? ..... He knew that he is not going to improve in the rematch and probably he will not be lucky with the cuts again ... and thats why he retired?
His reluctancy to give Vitali a rematch would indicate to me that he himself thought his skills were diminishing.
the fight wouldnt have been close if he was shot. at the same time that obviously wasnt a prime Lewis in the ring that night.
Lewis had been talking about retirement since before the Tyson fight. It wasn't Vitaly Klitscho that got him thinking about it. Lewis wasn't shot, but he was certainly past it, and mentally he looked as though he was out of the game.
He was definitely past his prime but shot is an absolute non-sense. Just 1 fight pre-Klitschko against Tyson, he looked quite well.
So you admit that that was a shot Lennox Lewis having his hand raised in victory over Vitali immediately after the fight? :good At what stage during the fight did he become shot, o wise one? Was it before or after the final round, which he won on all 3 cards? :think
Lewis, should have retired after Tyson. He was the classic example of a fighter fighting one too many fights. Shot.
:good Lennox was not motivated enough. After becoming undisputed champ and especially after beating Tyson Lewis knew, that there is nothing left to prove. In June 03 Lewis wanted to fight Kirc Johnson for the IBO Title. Vitaly was on the undecard. Then the Johnson fight was cancelled and Lewis choose to keep the WBC belt and fought Klitschko.
He was 15-20lbs over his best fighting weight, and to me looked like he had lost the total commitment necessary to succeed. No way was he shot though.
Lewis wasn't shot....he just wasn't hungry anymore....and the only thing i really didn't like about LL was that he took fights off. He came in overconfident against Rahman and he got KTFO. If Lewis was 100% (in shape and focuse) he would handled VK.
