Given those #'s and the state of Vitali's face, we must reconsider whether he should have been up on the cards at the time of the knockout. Lennox may have averted getting robbed by implementing his brilliant plan of facial destruction. :think

Lennox showed how to beat a Klitschko. He was taking the fight to Vitali, regardless of whether he was tired or not, Vitali was too, and by the end of the sixth Vitali was about out on his feet after that last viscous uppercut he ate.
Vitali was also being moved back easily by Lennox' jab. The fact that he moved straight back to avoid punches got his eye ripped up, also Vitali was laying his head to the right consistently and Lennox was starting to find that with his own right hand. With the uppercuts, right hands and jabs starting to really find home, and Vitali's eye a ripped up mess, it was only a matter of time before Klitschko was being stopped.
For as long as it lasted, it was the best HW fight of the last decade.

Problem is Lewis didn't land anything for three rounds, and its a round by round system.

-Some good observations but Vitali actually made some adjustments during the fight. He quit pulling back from the right cross and started ducking them, and after the body punch barrage and uppercut of death, he started protecting himself better in the clinch, smothering and wrestling Lewis in that last round instead of letting himself be used as a punching bag. Problem is the damage was already done that would lead to the stoppage. From a tactical standpoint its a pretty brilliant chess match, but Lewis was able to dish out the more consquential damage when he was in control.

And Lewis was ad******g to the ducking and finding him there. Vitali still ate a very good uppercut right at the end of the 6th and was hanging on and on the ropes. The bell rang. Lennox collapsed on his stool. Vitali walked sideways back to his corner. It was a brutal fight. They were both tired, but Lewis had two good eyes, and his mouth wasn't a ripped up mess either. I think he was right, he was going to finish that fight over the next couple of rounds. We'll never know. He won fair and square anyways.
Vitali showed he's a tough dude. He ate some uppercuts that no other man could likely take, his eye was wrecked and he must have been swallowing a good load of blood from those mouth cuts he had.

Yeah he made an adjustment . . . not a very good one because it led to him holding on for dear life when Lennox hit him with that Uppercut. After that Vitali was groping Lewis like he was his grade 12 prom date. I wish they would have let that fight go on so Lennox cold have finish him the **** off in the next round or Vitali's eye pops out and his career ends that very day . . . we would not have half of these crazy Klitlickers we have today.

Still the worst result in boxing history. Most people know that Vitali would have won after dominating him. Nobody has outboxed Vitali Klitschko, and nobody has outboxed Lennox Lewis until his last fight.

Klitschko land where receiving facial damage via punches in a combat sport is illegal.

-He wasn't finding him with the right cross again. Just pointing out Vitali neturalized that weapon after the disasterous third round where as your original post said he was still finding a home for it.

-That last uppercut that closed the fight was mostly smothered as I recall and looked more like an arm punch.

-Not sure what would happen had the fight continued, and I never argued that Lewis didn't win fair and square. It seems too many people focus on "what they think would have happened." Interesting to theorize and all, but so many people fail to describe or properly analyze the actual rounds of action we did see.
