Unbelievable that it's 27 Year's since the first fight between Lennon Lewis V Holyfield. That awful draw decision. What were your thoughts on the fight? Who did you have winning,or was it a fair decision?
Lewis was picture perfect in this fight. Probably his best performance ever. Holyfield won 3 rounds tops. Biggest robbery in boxing.
Massive robbery. Lewis landed nearly three times as many punches as Holyfield. Lennox controlled the fight with his heavy jab and combination s.
I scored it 9-3, but there will have been more competive 12-0 shut outs. Lewis was extremely dominant in most of the rounds he won. Very one sided fight.
Lewis won. But I do not have an issue with the decision because the 2nd fight could have been a draw. All in all the record is correctt.
I remember a huge disappointment. Lewis started well and actively, but in the third round, Evander took a strong lead. It was a good three rounds, and just when it seemed the fight was about to heat up, something strange happened to Holyfield. He completely lost the will to fight. Lewis easily won the subsequent rounds with increased activity, and Evander did nothing. I thought Lennox would be the unanimous winner after a weak fight and Holyfield would retire, but instead it was declared a pointless draw. The second fight was much better, but not as good as their names. Most commentators thought this was the last fight for the fading Evander
Fight was a big let down. Lewis was up for it and Holyfield was not. I think the last time Holyfield truly went to the well was his fights with Tyson. Those were his great white whale. And besides outside of the Tyson fights Holyfield was blowing hot a cold as early as the first Moorer fight and by 1999 it was cold more often than not
Holyfield was badly faded by this point. He had no whip in his punch anymore. His power massively reduced. The two fights had no entertainment value. Lewis was tepid and held to often. Holys body attack bounced off the body armour Lewis equipped up to his chest. Very obvious how cautious Lewis was of Holyfields ghost. Put 92 Bowe in there and its Homes vs Ali part II
I thought after the second fight, that Holyfield should have just walked away, his dignity intact... but that was never going to happen.
