Lewis v Tyson 2002

I think everybody that isn't a casual fan (and even those who ARE casual fans) know that Lewis took advantage of a shot Tyson. The people that actually use that to determine Lewis's greatness either haven't seen the fight or are blatantly ignoring Tyson's condition.

Lewis is great because of his resume, he pretty much cleaned out the division, (minus fighting a mid-90's Tyson). He did what he could.

 

I think Lewis is great, but I dont think hes that great. Yes he cleaned out the division, but the division was weak and limited. His run is somewhat close the Klitschko brothers only their opposition has been worse. At least Lewis had some dangerous punchers in his era.

It was arguably the biggest fight in history when it happened. A huge huge huge super fight.

no, Calzaghe beat Hopkins and RJJ back-to-back and he didn't even make it into classic's top 100 list.

 

Tyson is overrated in legacy, not h2h, during his prime he never did beat a great fighter even close to his prime, spinks was a lhw and stylistically he was made in order of Tyson and Holmes was a shot and Tyson had also stylistical advantage here, still i think that he deserves of benefit of the doubt against all time greats in fantasy fights because he was very good in his peak, and i give him decent credit because he was dominant when he won a fight , and he won the title by second time, but his legacy is a bit overrated

 

calzaghe is underrated actually but it is another debate

 

Lewis did his job, if Tyson was in shape or not it was not fault of Lewis, and lennox is 1 year older tan Tyson and i don´t care about the thing of the styles and who could age better , again it was not fault of Lewis, yes, lennox Lewis is above Tyson in the history, all this typical crap "prime Tyson would kill Lewis and Holyfield" blablablá pure speculation, it never happened.
actually i think that Lewis would beat Tyson prime vs prime too, and Holyfield would make it much more clearly.

again... it was nothe fault of Lewis.. he faced the best guys... Tyson, Holyfield,morrison,tua, golota,bruno,vitali,rahman,mccall....... bowe ran from him, and Lewis did beat all them...the only guy that i think that Lewis avoided was byrd. the diference is that Tyson never did beat every fighter that he fought, Lewis did,AND TYSON LOST BY KO AT 23 AND HE NEVER AVENGED THIS DEFEAT, VERY BIG DIFFERENCE.

and vitali was a great fighter in his prime and he lost against a PAST PRIME Lewis, i don´t care about the cards, he lost by cuts.

 

Take a look at the fight and the post fight interview. The fight was meaningless and looking back at it , its obvious it should of happened a lot earlier.....Tyson vs MaBride gernerated massive hype as well.

 

Tyson was a true champ and never ducked anybody.- "I'm champion of the world I'll fight any man alive, and I feel I can beat anyone in the world, and I'll take on all that's coming"..... Lewis ducked Bowe, avoided a clash with Holyfield after he beat Tucker and ddropped his belts to avoid Ruiz and Byrd....What great fighter did Lewis beat who was in his prime?

This fight was as far from meaningless as possible. Everyone clamoured for this fight, celebrated when it was signed and tuned in when it was fought.

(vitali klitschko was in his peak when he lost against a past prime Lewis by cuts, vitali was by far better than anyone that Tyson did beat ever)
