That was amazing you could say all of that out with his **** in your mouth. Have you been watching boxing for only 2 years or something. Go back and watch some Schmeling, Ali, Holmes, or even Patterson for God's sake. Keith
First of all Lewis is almost as big as Vitali and has a longer reach. He also ate a lot of punches himself. To beat Vitali one needs to. 1. Be nearly as big or at least have a reach that is close to that or longer than Vitali's. 2. Have a great chin. Youhave to throw 1,2 and 1,2,3 combos. This means you are also going to get hit. 3. Either be able to land those punches early and/or have outstanding stanima. So you can get to him late. None of the above garunties a win over Vitali. Vitali is a smart boxer with one of the higest ring IQ's in heavyweight history. He is also one of the hardest punchers as well. His jab is a battering ram a great offensive weopen. He also has a great stright right. While his punches are hard he seems to wear down his opoents rather than take them out with one punch. He also throws one punch at a time which creates a tiny opening for a combo.
That is how I recall it as well. I may need to double check though, and am happy enough to be corrected. But people harp on and on and on about how Lewis was fat and unmotivated blah blah blah. Yet they never, ever comment that Vitali took the fight at two weeks notice. They just say that it was "prime" Vitali. It's stuff like that which tells you the posters who are biased and therefore post illogically.
We only really have one fight at Heavy by which we can guage anything about Haye. (His previous Heavy fights were against opponents that tell us nothing) Considering that Chagaev beat a younger and better Valuev - and did it without having to run all night; considering that an ancient Holyfield and the decent but not amazing Ruiz also put in performances that were of a similar standard to Haye's.... So far we can say that he is not quite as good as Chag and about on par with Holyfield and Ruiz. 3rd best? Try hovering just inside the top ten. When he beats Ruiz he may be ranked at 7th or 8th. If and when he beats anyone else he may go higher. However, as it is expected that he will fight a rematch with Valuev or take on Holyfield or Meehan then he will not progress any further.
training to have a mandatory defense against kirk johnson. a fight he was taking very lightly. prior to that fight i had never heard of either one of the the brothers and was impressed even under the circumstances.
Tua has failed, it's time he earned a shot. Lewis was ready to go when his promoter signaled his doctor to signal his referee to stop the fight to save him. Vitali would have knocked Lewis out in the very next round. Watch the fight and was Lewis get staggered! Watch Lewis hold no to Vitali to keep from going down.
Yea, it was probably the most significant heavyweight fight of the decade. I'm a big fan of both fighters, and I'd have to say- if the cut hadn't occured, Vitali would have found a way to win that fight. Prime for prime I'd take Lewis though. I have no idea how, but I think at his best he would have found a way to win. Having said that, I don't think Lewis was that far past his prime in this fight, he hadn't lost an awful lot in terms of attributes in my opinion.
And how did the likes of Arreola, Solis and Boytsov get to be in the 'top ten fighters in the division' then?
Tua will drop a fight against anyone. I'd say anytime, anywhere, but it usually doesn't get that far.
Why do people have to talk about Tua all the time? What does he have to do with this? After all, we are talking about a guy who hasn't even won an alphabet belt his whole career
Haye refused to fight Vitali and Vlad and that is a proven fact. Now Haye is putting off fighting Ruiz!
