Bowe beat Holyfield but was shielded from top contenders before and after he beat him and struggled for the most part all the same.

Also yes McCall TKO'd Lewis, as Tubbs arguably beat Bowe who wasn't in Lewis class, as Golota beat the brakes of Bowe who wasn't in Lewis class, I don't see the relevance of a 1 off fluke win. As for Lewis running from Holyfield? I remember hoping the ref would do Holy a favour in the first fight and stop him.

As for Hide he was a cruserweight who had fast hands who landed at will on Bowe for the first few rounds and hurt him. Bowe won that won courtesy of his chin absorbing a small mans punches, not from technical superiority

And Lewis struggled against Marvrovic? Seriously?

    Then why didn't he?

Bowe had amble opportunity to make your assertion become true, but inside he choose to duck Lewis and throw his WBC belt in the bin.

It's had for me to fathom how someone can assert that Bowe would have won the fight, when it was Bowe who ducked the fight. Yet some posters, like you, act like he won the damn fight he ducked out of. :patsch

    Makes no sense.

Bowe would've smashed Lewis. Reminds me of comeback Foreman whose reputation has grown because of a fight he never took. McCall got to Lewis right before Bowe had his chance. So it's 1 to 1 with missed opportunities for both Bowe and Lewis.

Career wise there's no comparison so I don't know wtf you're rambling about? Lewis is a consensus top 10 ATG some even have him in the top 5, Bowe's maybe in the top 15-20 range. And h2h most pick at least some versions of Lewis to beat Bowe, other's think any version of Lewis was better than any version of Bowe.

    Me?

I just go by what happened, which is that Bowe ducked Lewis and if he felt it he was the better fighter at the time, it really makes no sense at all.

Lewis was lucky he didn't fight Bowe after holding out for the WBC strap. Bowe owed him one. And yes, Bowe would've owned him as well.

you make no sense. If Bowe owned him why didn't he fight him?

Instead you're giving Bowe a factious victory. This is childish logic.

It's Lewis who didn't fight Bowe. Don't get it twisted.

On a serious note, I believe a prime battle between the two ends in Bowe's favor. Lennox was a great champ himself, rates higher than Bowe, and I wish they would've fought in 93-94 when it was hot.

Hide was 6'2" and weighed 216lbs for the Bowe fight.
That's 6lbs more than Max Baer, 26lbs more than Jack Dempsey, 10.5lbs more than Joe Frazier, more than Ali scaled for any of his title defences during his first reign, heavier than Liston was for both Ali fights, 6lbs heavier than Cleveland Williams was for Ali, and over 10lbs than a prime Joe Louis.

    Hide ko'd 43 of his 49 victims
for an over 81% record ,before his comeback only one man went the distance with him.

I'd say he hit pretty good

Regardless of the outcome, I would have loved to see it myself.

When fights like this don't come off, it's the boxing fans who loose.

Hide bulked up to fight at HW, took loads of protein shakes every day, he had a small frame. His record was padded but he did have fast explosive punches. Not on the level of the likes of Lennox, Tyson etc but fast and explosive for his weight but his lack of frame affected his leverage really.

Hide scaled 206lbs in 1991 when he fought Eddie Gonzalez,Hide was 20 years old, that's 4 years before he fought Bowe.He was always going to add poundage protein shakes or no.

He struggled with Tubbs. But, Tubbs was vastly experienced and gave Bowe a lot of angles. Tubbs would have given 1991 Lewis a tough fight too, but Lewis was fighting weaker competition at that time. The Tubbs fight was a good learning experience for a still green Bowe, and probably accelerated his progress.

I could say Lewis ko's Bowe inside a round, saying it doesn't make it a fact.
