just a side note Briggs was actually lighter than Lennox.. Briggs was 224lbs for that fight if I do remember correctly. Either way great fight and Briggs showed alot of heart to keep getting up and I think most would agree the stopage was off of a slip. I always imagine if he landed that punch instead of missing and falling. It had so much power he took himself down. Early in taht fight Briggs almost had Lennox but he is a great fighter and came back with a big win. Even though Briggs lost this is still one of my favourite fights of all time.
:yep I loved this fight, from Briggs early storm having Lennox in real trouble in the 1st, to Lennox being so confident to toy with Briggs til he was out.
Great fight with a lot of attitude from Briggs in very good shape back then but still easier to hit than 22 in Blackjack ( floored 3 times before the 5th rd TKO). Shannon was gracious in defeat but mentioned in the post-fight presser that he missed with a shot in spite of being caught by one, actually Shannon took something like seven unanswered shots before missing with that wild left hook. It was unusual to see two very big guys with dreadlock hairstyle and veteran Frank Cappuccino in the middle - freakier than that just Lou Moret between Vitali Klitschko and Lennox.
My favorite part happened I think in the fourth where Lewis was standing with his hands at his waist and got hit with a clean shot, then smiled at Briggs and dropped him with a right hand. It was an entertaing fight, though more one sided than some people would have you believe
yeah he was to accepting even when he had won the fight and say somthing really declraingly he sounded liek it was forced out of him to say it...he seemed a bit shy, arrogant but still shy.
well no ill felt reasons for briggs he did fight really well got knocked down and was still gettin gup....but there is a bit where i think he put it on for the cameras when he closed his eyes with his hands all over the place then get up and stares and smiles at the crowd...:huh a bit pretentouis methinks
Lennox was a good fighter, who reminds me alot of Wlad. Both are good punchers with the ability to take you out early, but instead wait till later to take you out usually, and both there chins are always questionable. Lewis at the end of his career tried to become exciting all of a sudden, I guess to make up for lost time, I really think he could of beat Vitali without looking like the loser that night. Unless your brutal and a brawler, I dont see us american fans taking to well to guys like Iggy and even Wlad.
