Lewis vs. Chambers

Didn't Lewis avoid Chris Byrd for fear of looking bad?

Easy victory for Lewis. He'd do pretty much what Wlad did, but with more enthusiasm and much quicker results.
It's not a knock on Wlad per se. Wlad could have finished Chambers off anytime, he just didn't (and doesn't) seem to have the desire.

 

I guess there can be no serious question about the winner of this matchup. The real question is if Lewis would look much better than Wlad in beating Chambers.

I don't think so. While size makes gives fighters like Lewis or the Klitschkos a huge advantage in being hard to beat, it also makes it difficult for them to look impressive against small, defensive fighters. Lewis could walk through a big guy like Golota or someone who came out guns blazing like Grant. Chambers is small, quick, had his guard up all night against Wlad and when these types of fighters duck low, there isn't that much a big fighter can do. The shot version of Tyson who got knocked out by Lewis would have a better chance for an early knockout of Chambers than either Wlad or Lewis.

 

I don't think he could have finished Chambers any time. Chambers partially blocked most shots and has a good chin, he was neevr decked before. He is a very good defensive fighter.

 

Chamber's has a very good defense, and evaded Wlad throughout most of the fight, hence the low workrate. I doubt anybody could have finished Eddie earlier than 8 rounds because the guy was very tough...

I don't think Lewis would even bother training for Chambers.

He's roll straight off the beach into the ring and spark him at will.

 

Would be nice if Lewis actually faced fast, technically sound defensive fighters. Thus far the best guage is old Holyfield and Mavrovik, whom he scarpped by but didn't look too outsanding against. Wlad at the very least has developed a niche at shutting these guys out since he first beat Byrd about a decade ago.

I say Lewis UD in an ugly affair. Or he just drops his title and opts to face a plodder he can blast out without much effort. Maybe Arreola.
