I think Rahman II was THE BEST performance in Lewis career and Lennox himself always adresses that fight as his best performance ever. Saying that, I still rank Holyfield I fight among his best performances: 1) Lewis vs Rahman II ... 2-5) Lewis vs Holyfield I, Lewis vs Golota, Lewis s Tua (awfully boring but very effective) and Lewis vs Ruddock. Lennox also looked great against Grant and Botha, both of whom he destroyed quickly
Your correct in this imo. Lewis won and should have gotten the decision no doubt. But i expected more going in I must admit. I expected a Bowe v Holyfield 1 type fight with Lennox getting the better of him in a clear, punching him down at least once way. But that's how Lewis could be at times, a little to cautious. Perhaps he learned that through the Mccall loss or steward drummed it in to him? Never the less, Lennox should have been proclaimed winner, Anyone who's watched the fight at least twice, I think should get that.
It wasn't Lewis at his very best, he respected Holyfield a little to much imo, but that's understandable against the Real Deal.
Lewis did not clearly win the 2nd fight. You come to this conclusion because you are watching the 2nd fight with a view to make up for the first fight
I don't think it was Stewart who made him that catious. Remember how Emanuel was shouting at him in the corner in Tyson fight? He was furious at Lewis for Lennox being too catious against shot (and deadly tired already) Mike This content is protected
Holyfield admitted that he was going to quit in the corner after the 3rd, that he had had enough and his eardrum was ruptured by that point. Lewis should have finished him off in retrospect but it was a magnificent performance. GOAT This content is protected
It's funny, but Lewis seemed to have two different types. The caution and thinking ahead Lennox and sometimes the come out to kill mode.
