Just read this on fightnews  46-year-old four-time former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield says he plans to permanently retire from boxing at the end of 2009 according to his hometown paper the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Evander also mentioned a possible fight with WBA champion Nikolai Valuev and stated that representatives of former champ Lennox Lewis had contacted him earlier this week about a possible fight. Holyfield was in court yesterday resolving a child support dispute with the mother of one of his 11 children. All told, the AJ-C reports that Holyfield's child support payments could run as high as $500,000 annually. Thursday, October 23 2008 Maybe Lewis wants to see what he has got left, id take lewis by ko if it does happen. Thoughts :think
holyfield should have retired at the end of 1999, after the first lewis fight. least he could say that he hasnt been beaten by him and retired a champ.
This is bollocks, surely Lewis won't want to give Holyfield a payday anyway, after being robbed by him once previously
Well probably is, but it does make sense to test the waters as he himself wouldnt know what he has got left until he stepped between the ropes. Just seems like so much money is being thrown at him, he is finding it to hard to resist :-(
no way this is bazarre come on lennox i used to be a hater but the hw division needs you and i would love you to ko both klits
i think holyfield valuev is pretty much off with valuev more likely to fight golota now. thats the last i heard anyway.
I remember Compubox on the first fight - Lennox landed more than Evander threw, yet the fight was a draw!
That fight was ****ing robbery. Goddamn, I am so tired of Holyfield. I loved watching the guy, buts he should have retired 10 years ago. His career has been become a complete parody
I was just reading this myself and came on here wondering if anyone had posted it! I really dont wanna see Lewis come back...6 years is a long time out and a lot of ring rust. I'm wondering if he's thinking of this fight to test the waters and if all is well he'll go for Vitali and IMO it can only be the lure of millions of $$!! He always said once he retires he'll stay retired for good...now I'm reading all this nonsense. I hope this dont happen...and what if Holyfield beats him as even though he's shot Lewis may be more so with 6 years out! Then his pride will have him go on cos he'll think "can retire with Holyfield beating me when he's an old man and shot"...stay retired Lennox you've done enough and are rich enough. I dunno maybe Vitali's comeback after nearly 4yrs has inspired him and he's thinking "if he can do it so can I" but he's older than Vitali and 2 years more of inactivity. Oh well we'll see.
The trouble is he has alw2ays maintained he had 2 fights left in him, i dont want to see him messing with the klits at his age now though 4 or 5 years ago id of been all for it. Still if he does comeback in all honesty ill be watching and so will everybody else
What were everyone's scores for the first fight - I will watch it again shortly and score it again neutrally...... I remember the rematch was WAY closer - yet Lennox got a comfortable UD. A third fight between these two would be about as pointless as Lewis vs Tyson I - Tyson was owned by Holy twice and Holy was owned twice by Lewis, Ok the A > B, B > C so A > C isn't true - surely it must be in this instance.
