Byrd gave Klit a "L" is like saying Austin gave Golota an "L" while Golota needed to get all his tendons sutured. Injuries happen.
Trust me Vitali was prepare to face Lewis. Vitali was going to face a bum fighter in the undercard of Lewis vs Johnson but i bet Vitali didn't train for that bum fighter, he train for the Lewis showdown that was suppost to be in december if you remember that. Vitali like i said prepare to face Lewis while it look 2 weeks for Lewis to prepare for Vitali and it shows with Lewis being so out of shape.
Lewis in his prime would take it but as for the question in hand then yet again I still think Lewis would take it, he would come in better prepared and in better shape in the rematch.
i've lennox knocking him out in the rematch, the first was a underprepared, disinterested lewis and he still cut vitali up lennox was a master of rematches, no way vitali gives him the same problems, Lewis KO
Who has the hairy giant beaten? He hasn't fought a single legit HW contender. So who else could Vitali fight? Who else is a legit HW opponent for Vitali that would enhance his resume.
I'll second that. I'm a big fan of both, but Lewis was definitely the more skilled of the 2. I think both guys are more cautious in the re-match and it goes the distance with Lewis edging it out closely with his sharp counters. I see Vitali wobbling Lennox again early, but doesn't finish him as Lennox's chin is way under-rated and he warms into the fight and takes control in the second half. I'd give Lewis a good shot at a late stoppage pending on how much he had left in the tank at that stage in his career.
Lewis was not as out of shape as many of you make seem. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, he had trained so hard for the Johnson fight, that he reached new milestones in training. He was not fat, out of shape or ill prepared. He had maybe 3 to 5 more pounds on his frame than he had before, but to call Lewis fat and out of shape is just darn right denial. Both Lennox and Vitali had the same amount of time to prepare for each other. They both were previously training to fight totally different fighters. To me, that makes the training preparation equal. Yes, Vitali got cut badly, but Lewis also got roughed up in a way that nobody had ever done, and was completely exhausted at the time the doctor stopped the fight. I don't have a crystal ball to predict how the fight would have ended if allowed to continue, or who would win six months later in a rematch. I think it's silly to speculate such things at this point. But I do know this 1. Lewis turned down a huge payday for a rematch 2. Manny Steward told Lewis if he chose to fight Vitali again that he was on his own because he was not willing to train him to fight Klitschko again. 3. Obviously based on 2, Steward felt that Klitschko had Lewis' number. If happens, every boxer meets his opposite if he stays in the game long enough. Klitscho was the only man to ever slug it out with Lewis if you think about it. Nobody ever stood and traded with him. That scared the hell out of Steward because Lewis who is considered one of the hardest punchers in history couldn't put Klitschko away. Not only that, Lewis who had fought some of the hardest punchers around (Tyson, Briggs, Rahmann, McCall, and so on) without ever being in any real trouble was getting rocked by Klitschko. What does that tell you? Avoid this man!
