Vitali had the advantage since he had been preparing , training and working towards fighting Lewis as thats what contenders do when they have the Champ in their crosshairs. Lewis on the other hand paid little attention to Vitali since he held both bros in low regard. Even with all that time to prepare - being fit , young and in the prime of his career , he still wasn't good enough to beat a slow , sloppy , old and unmotivated Lewis who took the fight on short notice. Its ironic that Lewis exited the sport against a bust up, bloodied Vitali beating his chest and Vitali exited the sport against a minor bloodied beating chest Manny Charr. Just another indicator of the huge gap in levels there is between K-Bros and real , authentic ATG HWs.
Poor blade just isn't sharp is he? Manny was heard constantly telling Lewis to lein on him. Because he was HEAVIER than Vit. Since he was outgunned at range, it made sense for Lewis to weigh more than Vit to rough him up in close. Stewart was smart enough to understand that. You are clearly not.
Huh, you are the one with the strident posts. "Fan boy"? Jeez, I just said they are my two favorite boxers of all time. I insult people who insult the matchup, because yes, it is stupid not to recognize it left unanswered questions about how the better fighter was h2h. And I usually only after they insult me.
I lol'd at your last two sentences. Irony is lost on you, isn't it? And you've been missing my point. It's not that he was 5 pounds heavier entirely on purpose. It's that A. 5 pounds is not a big deal at that size as far as determining shape etc B. In this matchup, it probably helped him at least as much as hurt him and C. For the above reasons, there is a good chance that his weight was, at least to some extent, influenced by his opponent. Now, I know these include big words, and complex thoughts, and that you struggle with such things, but give it a try this time.
It is clear that you just do not know what you are talking about Look, Lewis was not in proper shape. He looked lethargic and slow but also just based on his body structure (compared to previous fights). As far as I am concerned, Lewis came in too heavy because he was not in proper shape. Apparently you now unreasonably disagree with that. Then you go on to make the absurd argument that a few pounds matter more than being in shape. Yes I get what you're saying but that is all nonsense to me. As for Steward, I already told you that he had to work with the shape Lewis was in. He tried to make the best out of the situation and advised Lewis to us his weight to use his advantage. But surely he would have liked Lewis lighter and in top shape. Against another Giant (Michael Grant), Lewis weighed in at 247 pounds. Now, that is a fine weigh for Lewis.
I can't really say he was fat or overweight in that fight like some has mentioned in this thread. Yeah he looked heavy but he was like that for the last few years of his career.
worst lewis probably didnt train much becos he knew he could ko prime vitali inside less than half the distance. and he was right.
I never insulted the match up or referred to it as anything but a tough fight for Lewis. The better fighter h2h prime for prime is obviously Lewis!
No need to fight to the death, guys . You can nake a strong case for either. It is not crazy to pick either one.
