I actually think Lewis may be worse in the rematch. We don't know.

Bowe was out of shape vs Golota in their 1st fight, then he lost 17 lbs, trained very hard but looked even worse in the rematch. He was just a spent fighter by then.

And so might be Lennox Lewis in December 2003 or early 2004.

No chance. Bowe was weight drained, due to Futch being out of the camp.
Emmanuel Steward would not let that happen.

Vitali by stoppage. Lewis was 38 years old, losing interest and coming in too heavy for his fights. Vitali was hitting his prime. Vitali by stoppage.

Lewis quit at the perfect time. If the first Vitali fight had gone to the late rounds a gassing Lewis could have been in big trouble.

Of course, the best we can do is make an educated guess.

Yeah, but Riddick Bowe shedding a couple of lbs is like throwing a deckchair off the Titanic.

All ifs and buts lads. Fact is the dying embers of lewis still beat him. Being slightly ahead after 6 rounds in a 12 round fight means nothing. A rematch a few months later would have a similar outcome imo.

aguess based on tko6 a few months later, or a guess opposite to the actual evidence.

No I base my argument on the fact Lewis was declining and the cut likely saved him.

Vitali would not necessarily cut if there was a rematch.

We are not positing what would happen in the first fight if not for Vitali's cut, but would likely happen if they had a rematch.

well i would base my guess on what happened. vitali blietzkrieging lewis desperately, but not being able to hurt him and being open to being ripped apart in response.

If we all thought like that, we would never have threads on prospective matchups.

How can you prove a rematch would have a similar outcome - you can't even prove what would have happened if the first fight went on to the late rounds.

I saw Lewis out of shape and gassing and having a very difficult time with Vitali.

Of course I can't prove Vitali he would have won the first fight if not for the cut or that he would win a rematch. But I can make an educated guess. And, t that's all you or anyone else can do. Your certainty in the matter reeks of illogical subjectivity.

Absurd is something without logic. My post has logic, yours doesn't, hence, yours is absurd and mine isn't. In shape Lewis main attributes would be speed and accuracy. That isn't going to help him much against the bigger, busier Vit. He needed bulk for the clinches, and to absorb and deal out punishment more than he needed speed. It's "absurd" to say otherwise.

You can always tell who has an agenda by the certainty they show. I've said it's certainly possible Lennox, who is one of my all time favorite fighters and who I rank higher in legacy thanVitali, could win the rematch. You and other agenda posters, in the face of a controversial and close fight, refuse to even accept the possibility that Vitali would win. If you can't understand how irrational that is, well I suggest you look up the dunning Kruger effect and tell me how that doesn't apply to you.

anyone who thinks 38 year old men should be defending the hw title against a legit opponent is daft.

38 year old lewis was a ganga smoking potbellied retiree,of course vitali would beat a non training retiree.

match them prime, not some hypothetical when they were retired. wat next parkinsonians ali vs foreman? sick, mate.
