Lewis vs Vitali. Was there ever a bigger demand for a re-match in the past 20 years?

Lennox Lewis vs. Vitali Klitschko is perhaps the most talked about fight here. We must have had 40 threads on this topic, but I'm going to suggest a new twist.

In the past 20 years was there ever a bigger demand for a re-match.

    The facts:

Vitali was up on points 4-2 on all three cards, Lewis won on cuts in a memorable action clash of giants. It is very rare in a world title fight for the man behind to win on cuts alone.

As HBO's Jim Lampley aptly put it, Lewis won the fight, but Vitali won the event.

Lewis said he would rematch on air and in the press. The WBC ordered the re-match!. 18 million was guaranteed for Lewis to re-match!
If there was a re-match, the ESB server would run out of bandwidth for posters to log on! But we never saw it.

Has there been more demand for a re-match in the past 20 years? If you think so, please list the fight.

was there a bigger demand from you, you mean?

well only you can tell us.

but no, tko6 when in worst form ever over a prime is pretty emphatic. rematches are about split decisions, or obvious cheating (in which case they aren't really rematches in the real sense, they are the first match without the cheating).

Tyson Holyfield or Bowe Holyfield would be the only hw fights in that range. I'd give the edge to VK LL though.

    davarryl Williams guy vs klitschko.

    sanders vs klitshcko

    purity vs klitshcko

prime (not 1 eyed) Brewster vs klitschko.

to be fair, no, they were tearing klitshcko up, no need for a rematch. it was clear who was winning there.

In other words, the trolls are at a loss for words. Otherwise, you could list a bigger rematch that did not happen!: deal

Show me one that was ordered and did not happen that also was an action fight with a high purse amount offered if you can.

In the history of the heavyweight division, arguably the most media focused division, Schmeling gave Joe Louis a re-match, and Frazier gave Ali a rematch. See how important they are for history?

The winner of Lewis vs Klitschko 2 would really have an enhanced legacy.

I represent all trolls ...only on planet K.

Mendoza thinks only one post is the entire representative reply of all on this board - only on planet K

Mendoza ignores all the other posts on this forum to save face and call a day on his thread and thus claim a victory before he gets further embarrassed, more like.

To try to keep this from being put in the stupid dungeon of the tko thread, I'll say I do believe VK LL II was the most ostensibly obvious rematch that was never made in heavyweight history. I can't think of another one that didn't happen that was as obvious, i.e., two ATG's with an unsatisfying result leaving tons of room for debate about who the better fighter is. Witherspoon Holmes is the only one even coming to mind, and obviously, as great as Witherspoon was, no one will argue he's an ATG, unless you count ATG's around 60 or 70 all time.

But to be fair, and I'm a big Vitali fan, it probably only have enhanced history if Vitali won. If LL won, and I'm personally close to 50/50 on who would have won the rematch, it may very well have permanently derailed Vitali's career. Considering his injury issues and political interests, he may have just forgone the time to get back on track and retired early. Therefore, if Lennox won, his two victories over Vitali wouldn't look nearly as impressive as his one victory in real life.

Obviously, if VK won the rematch and everything else about his career remained the same, it vaults him over his brother and into the top 4 or 5 all time.

when in boxing title history has a rematch with a 38 year old been the most ostensibly obvious rematch?

    be specific.

It would have enhanced Lewis too. Vitali did fine work post-Lewis, and Lewis knows he did not look good in this fight.

It is best to be quick with our " hero " poster. He doesn't; know what he's talking about.

I'd crush you in a debate as easily as an egg shell. To be honest, you're too ignorant to be a good troll. I do not take you seriously, and could pretty much write your replies for you because you are as predictable as a broken clock.

If you can show me a greater demand for a re-match in the past 20 years ( you have not come close so far ), I'll debate you and it will be easy pickings near Thanksgiving.

I didn't see the point in a rematch. An old ready to retire Lewis, smashed Vitali's face in half and almost ruined his eye in route to a TKO. What more was there to see?

Mabey I can have fun and count your mistakes.

#1, Lewis was 37 for the fight, not 38 as you claim. :D

Now can you come up with a bigger demand for a re-match, or not?

Step out of your troll suit, I want to see what you've got before I get bored with you.

tis shame for you that you are CLEARLY and BLATANTLY talking about a rematch and NOT the first fight.

he'd be 38 for the rematch, not 37.

K.S.D.O.A. not only that, but you've made that same mistake again, making it previously on another thread. So this is Kliturd re-self destructs once again.
I need to pen a new acronym for you.

step out of your ignoring posts suit and you'll find plenty.
