I get what you're saying but these comparisons don't really help your argument.. Lewis and Witherspoon both fought Mercer in calendar 1996... Both men were taken the distance in fights that resulted in very close indecisive verdicts.. So what's the difference? Well, One of them was 40 years old while the other was 30.. And then there's the Frank Bruno fight..... Both guys were rocked with huge shots by Bruno and even behind on the cards against him at one point.. So where's the difference? Tim fought Frank in 1986 when Frank was 25 years old.. Lewis fought him in 1993 when he was 32 and on the comeback trail... If anything these examples help WITHERSPOON's case.. Not Lewis's. Another way we could do this is to see where these men were at various points in their careers... When Tim was in his 16th pro fight he battled an ATG reigning world champion to a decision that some felt he won...Lewis at that very same stage fought a completely diminished Mike Weaver.. In his 19th pro fight Witherspoon defeated a prime Greg Page ( who Holmes had ducked ) for the WBC title... Lewis was fighting the great Levi Billups.. In his 26th pro fight Spoon defeated the undefeated Tubbs for the WBA title.. Lewis meanwhile in his 26th bout was KO'd by McCall....

To clarify, Lewis is a MUCH higher caliber of heavyweight than Spoon and has my vote to beat him head to head as well.. But I just wanted to illustrate how some comparisons aren't always good for making a case...
