BT: Do you wish now that you would have fought Tyson and Lewis?

RB: Well I love to fight. I would have loved to fight them, but let’s go back to [Lewis], he ducked me any way he could. I mean he knew, with me being champion, I’m not gonna give him [a] 50-50 [split], you know what I mean? So he used that as an escape. He knew he couldn’t whoop me so he just avoided me the best way he could. But anyway, I know Mike was a great fighter, but you gotta remember a big guy that could move with a good left hand could give him a lot of trouble and that’s the kind of fight I don’t think he’d wanna be in.

I get tired of repeating the facts but Bowe did not duck Lewis.

Bowe is completely shot & sounds very punchy. I hope he stays retired & never fights again.

No, he just wanted more money for the fight as the official split ordered by the WBC (trying to lowball Lewis). And when LL and the WBC didn't accept that he trew the belt in the trashcan.

    I call that a duck

The article is both amusing and sad in equal measure.

Bowe and/or his people ducked Lewis. As we all know, Bowe threw the WBC belt in the garbage. I don't know if "Big Daddy" was afraid of Lennox or not, but he definitely found a way to not fight him.

They (Newman & Bowe) offered Lewis similar terms to what they had accepted for the 1st Holy fight. I think it was $3m a career high payday for Lewis who didnt accept it.

They also offered Lewis a fight on the undercard of Bowe-Dokes & then Bowe next but Lewis turned that down as well. Newman was paranoid about dealing with the WBC, who were heavily influenced by Don King.

They also agreed terms in '94 after Bowe had lost to Holy but Lewis got KOd by McCall & the fight didnt happen.

    I dont call that ducking.

Sometimes people want to believe things even if they aren't true because it fits their agenda.

Lewis is being paraded as this white knight was avoided by everybody when he was a spoiled and pampered superstar who was guilty of the same things that he accused others of doing.

Lewis had turned down several offers from Bowe's camp and in each case it was a career high payday.

This fight didn't come off because Lewis didn't accept the terms that Bowe's camp offered. Then losing to McCall set this off course. Bowe performance against Golota was essentially the reason why Lewis fought Golota in 1997 instead of Bowe.

Another little known fact is that Lewis once refused an offer from the Tyson camp in 1995 for $13.5 million before he scheduled to fight Ray Mercer.

But of course people bring up the $4 million out of context not realizing what that money for actually for.

Glad to see there are some who post facts.

Can you provide sources for all of your claims?

Bowe refused to fight his WBC mandatory and threw his belt in the garbage, fact.

Regardless of who supposedly ducked who when Bowe was champion, but for upset losses, circumstances and Bowe's dramatic decline, they would eventually have settled it in the ring. I find it hard to believe that either man was "scared" of fighting the other.

You havent just stated a fact just because its come out of your mouth. Provide evidence not just an 'article' then we can call it a fact.

But I tell you what is a FACT, Bowe through his belt in the trash rather than fight Lewis. So based on real facts. Bowe DUCKED Lewis. Now go to bed.

I believe Bowe would have beaten Mike Tyson, especially around Bowe's '92 peak.

He had everything Buster Douglas showed was required to beat Mike: A top notch jab, power in the right hand, and the ability to take a hell of a shot.

One of my all time HW Fantasy fights.
