bowe had pretty shitty defence and would have been drawn into a slugfest, but by 92 he would have a chance, wouldnt say it was a great one though.

Bowe was unable to agree terms with his WBC mandatory challenger. Fact.

There was no need to agree on anything. The terms of a mandatory fight are dictated by the santioning body, Bowe tried to lowball Lewis instead of making the fight with the standard terms, clear duck.

    Exactly :good

The WBC rules clearly stipulate a 70/30 split in the favour of the champion, when facing a mandatory. Bowe's team initially offered a miserly $3million. They then offered a 2 fight $8-9 million deal which included facing an opponent prior to facing Bowe. Lewis of course refused then Bowe's team offered the ridiculous 90/10 split.

Lewis agreed to even take a lower than stipulation split than the 30% and came back with an offer for 25% of the purse. Even that wasn't good enough for Bowe's team. Lewis then went on to fight Tucker for about $9 million which would have been the combined purse of a 2 fight deal with Bowe's team. Bowe's management clearly low balled Lewis to ensure the fight never happened. They simply had too much to lose and having seen Lewis destroy another big man in Ruddock with such ease there was no way they were sticking Bowe in with Lewis at that point in time.

IMO Bowe would have beaten Tyson and a fight with Lewis would have been great. Too bad Golota ruined him.

Bowe is my all time favorite but....here's what I've concluded:

Newman was undoubtedly scare of Lewis. I don't think that version of Bowe was TERRIFIED of Lennox but...he doubted himself enough that he was happy to let Newman make the decision for him.

I see it as a duck. Still I'm content that Lewis's longevity is so much greater than Bowes and that of the 2 he clearly is the better fighter and goes down in history as such.

Had the fight happend I'd go Lewis TKO Bowe around the middle rounds.
