If Lewis was old and fat ... that makes Vitaly a bum, right?

So now Lewis only had a week to train? He actually had a full training camp... and then found out a little over 2 weeks out from the fight that Johnson was pulling out, and he would be fighting Klitschko. At the time, even Manny Steward himself said that the change wouldn't really matter because they still had to do sparring, and would just bring in taller sparring partners.

Anytime that you have guys taking a fight on short notice... everyone with a brain knows that the edge goes to the most experienced fighter... which was clearly Lewis.

Lewis had the advantage, not Vitali. Lewis' great condition is the ONLY reason why he survived the 2nd round and was able to recover. Guys who are out of shape aren't able to recover and come back stronger. He was still clearly losing the fight, but doing much better than he did in round 2.

I know for a fact he did. Before they were even scheduled to fight Vitali for sure... Lennox and Manny were on an HBO broadcast just as the Johnson fight was called off... they were saying that they were definitely going to schedule another opponent because Lewis had a great training camp, was in great shape, and that they wren't going to let it all go to waste.

I call you being semi-******ed here. You seriously claim that Steward would stand by and let Lennox go to fight Kirk, Vitali or who ever he's about to face without training? And keeping in mind that the Rahman 1 fiasco was just two wins earlier. Didn't Lennox learn anything from that fight? What was he, stupid? I don't think so. He would have not signed the fight if he had doubts about his condition.

    Lennox
    2003-06-21 Vitali Klitschko

    Vitali
    2008-10-11 Samuel Peter
    2004-12-11 Danny Williams

I can't even imagine how highly some Brits here would set Lennox for doing same as Vitali did. We wouldn't hear a word about 'bad era' or 'Sam was ****-shot-fat-pig' from them.

Off topic but imagine the amount of **** Pacquiao would get here if Mayweather happened to carry English passport..

He was partially trained for Kirk "Donut Breath" Johnson. Therefore, Lewis came in heavy so he could take those Krispy Kreme punches.

Ole Kirk Johnson then went on to dislocate his knee agains Javier Mora after one of those body shots that gave him a bad case of "America runs on Dunkin" gas. So it's okay that Mr. Lewis was out of shape IMO.

To be fair Lewis didn't have to be in great condition to smash and stop Vitali.

I don't buy into the 'Lewis was fat'. Under Steward I am sure he was ready.

I also don't buy into the 'Lewis was losing and had to rematch' baloney either.

It was a close fight and there are no excuses required on either side.

Lewis was right to retire gracefully on his terms - it was his choice and Lewis-Vitali 2 was a 50-50 fight.

If Lewis had done a 'Floyd Mayweather Pac-motivated retirement' then I would give him **** but he was at the end of a great career.

He trained well for Johnson but still anyone with eyes and a memory can see his physical decline. Training hard for one guy dose not mean he is going to be well prepared for another fighter.
